    lol, found this on realgm....

Just baffling in my opinion. Gerald Wallace is by far and away the better player, in my opinion, by a preety decent margain too.

    Re: Shard vs Crash

Personally if I was starting a team from scratch I would rather have Wallace, but Lewis is far better on offense. You have to double team him in the post and he can hit three pointers with anyone in the league.

And the stat difference is alot smaller than what I would have thought.

    Rebounding 1.5 worse

    Assists 2.1 worse

    Steals 1.0 worse

    Blocks .3 worse...

Certainly, they should have been close in compensation...but what Wallace brings in defense Lewis brings in offense it's just what your team needs.

But Wallace is younger, way better on defense and is signed to a reasonable contract.

      Re: Shard vs Crash

look, stats tell only some of the story.......crash is coming into his own now for sure and he can certainly stuff stats due to his freakish athleticsm, but thats the problem. he is too reliant on it, he lacks a consistent jumper, and is injury prone, he also needs to improve his handles,
rashard is the superior scorer, from all angles, he is a below average defender though, and his handles could use improving too....he doesnt have crash's intensity, but that isnt really a bad thing, considering crash is aptly nicknamed....
if i was to pick. i would take rashard, he is a more commanding scorer, both players are not top tier stars though.. the difference is wallace is being payed to his level, rashard, well, he is getting the money a franchise player dreams of.....and in that regard,if we are to factor in the salarys in comparison to the talent, wallace is easily the better option.

Based on pure offense, Rashard is the better player.... You don't have to run many plays for Crash to get his points... He'll get his off of fast breaks, putbacks of offensive rebounds and steals, while hitting the occasional jumper, which has improved with each year. I do think you get better value with Crash's contract.

I have to say I am very impressed that Charlotte was able to get that kind of a deal for Wallace. I don't think he is underpaid, 10MM per year seems like fair value and is what he sought from the beginning, but there is really no contest here when looking at best value. When you look at the actual points per shot, that category is even closer (Wallace at .73, Lewis .75). There's no doubt that Lewis has been the better scorer so far, but Wallace more than makes up for it in the hustle stats (a full extra steal per 40 min is huge) and may even pass him in scoring with time.

Yea, it isn't that Wallace is underpaid. It's that Lewis is overpaid so it makes Wallace's contract look insignificant or disrespectful to his ability.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Gully factor puts it over the top for Wallace.

For Orlando, Rashard Lewis is obviously the better fit and its not even close. However, they bidded against themselves and that is about the stupidiest thing you can do. I dont think any other team was going to give him 5 years, 80 million (16 million average) much less 6 years 113 million (20 million average). Gerald Wallace is definately the better value, and a reasonable contract.

Gerald Wallace is the closest thing this league has to Shawn Marion.

Needless to say, I would take Wallace and his steal of a contract over Rashard and his albatross any day.

Absolutley! I love Gerald Wallace and i'm glad he's being loyal to the bobcats, he could have gone somewhere else and got paid more.

When healthy Andrei Kirilenko is a better version of Shawn Marion, than Shawn Marion himself.

And when is he healthy? 10 games a year?

Not to mention Andrei has the heart of a coward/softie...

I'm not sure who got jobbed off more, Crash or the Magic.

Stats aside, the contract comparison blows my mind. WOW.

More or less I do as well. Marion's set to make 16.5 and 17 mill over the next two seasons..
