Alright, enough with the name calling, guys. mj-airness23, you clearly cannot comment on this topic without pissing other people off, so I'm going to suggest you simply avoid posting in this thread.

Zo can play better than Kwame even with one kidney and 37. They lost to CHI, but they won the finals the season before where he rake 5 blocks in Game 6 I think (not sure).

That's the past man. As each year progresses for Alonzo, he's going to get worse because of the age factor and also because tear on his body throughout the season. Signing him again for one more year was pointless, in my opinion. And why'd you randomly bring up Kwame Brown? But anyway, towards the Miami fanboy, no I am not a troll.

The past? But weren't you just referencing the past when you were talking about the series with Chicago? And even if Zo gets worse each following year, he's still going to be better defensively than 90% of the centers in the league. You say this like he's not going to be a factor anymore. But he's still a defensive presence in the paint, something a lot of other teams lack.

I brought up Kwame to compare Zo to LAL's defensive big guy. All I am saying is that even at Zo current stage, is still slightly effective defensively compared to any of the big men of LAL who are young and some are overpriced. Zo is a huge factor to championship teams like SA (can compliment Duncan in the low post), DAL (certainly an upgrade compared to Dampier defensively), and PHX (Zo can certainly slow down Duncan compared to Kurt Thomas freeing Amare to go wild offensively).

Yeah I agree to an extent with what you guys are saying. It was just that at the beginning, I felt that people were making Alonzo seem like he was this amazing defensive force. People were saying that he's the only Center that puts forth effort on the defensive end every night, but I disagree. He'll give you great defensive stats occasionally, but he's not going to be able to every night. And don't argue with me about the posters. Guys even like Big Ben don't even get as much posterizations as Zo.

Zo is mostly a one on one defender who challenge shots squarely (like Mutombo) whether it be a drive in the paint or a low post attack. Ben is a weak side defender who most of the time get's his blocks from the weakside angle rather than squarely facing the opponent. At least that is how I see the games of both players. Also, Zo doesn't have the quickness anymore to react right away defensively, but his response time defensively is still better than most of the low post players in the NBA half his age. 2.31 blocks every 20 minutes is not bad.

maybe because Big Ben would step back when there is a dunk coming??

I was the sports editor for our school newspaper, and the Hornets along with this candy company invited one sports writer from every school newspaper in Charlotte to a Hornets practice and a press conference with Alonzo Mourning. They were doing it to announce/promote the new "Zo Bar" candy bar they were about to come out with.

Well...sometime before this was supposed to happen, Zo announced he was holding out for more money. So...it comes time for this thing, and he's still not in camp. We go to the Hornets Training Facility, and the candy rep was there to greet us. Instead of getting a press conference with Alonzo Mourning (since he wasn't there), they gave us head coach Allan Bristow instead.

Most of the kids there were asking him fluff questions like, "Is it fun to be the coach of the Hornets?" and crap like that. When it became my turn to ask questions, I hit him with the doozy right off the bat. "When is Mourning going to get to camp? Have you considered the possibility of trading him and if so, for who?" You should've seen the look on his face. He was flabbergasted that some punk 18 year old kid would come in there and hit him with a question like that.

He gave me some B.S. coach speak response, and the candy rep jumped in with, "We wouldn't be putting all this time and money into marketing this candybar if we didn't think he'd be here for years to come. Don't worry. This will get settled."

Well...needless to say, that guy was talking out of his ***, and Zo wound up getting traded to the Heat. The Zo Bar? Never saw the light of day.

                          Great story

I cant really explain this very good , I mean i love Zo's game and hes still a amazing shot blocker i dont care how many time's VC postered him, But lets be real he's kinda selfish he screwed the raps over Big time.
