if the NBA made a new top 50 list.. who would replace who?

i have had this debate wit some friends and its interesting how different people think so differently.

i think that if the NBA were to make a new top 50 list, gary payton, duncan, garnett, kobe, mcgrady would be on it and some guys would be knocked off, guys like lenny wilkens, etc. I also think pip would lose his spot. After all, i dont think pip is in the high half of the top 50.. if you ranked the top 50 he's probably in the 30s to 40s.... and besides, after jordan retired we saw pip's true color (NO CLUTCH, getting schooled in playoffs by young kobe bryant, cannot lead a team, watched his team blow a 15 point 4th quarter lead in game 7) Pippen was overrated because Jordan was so great. If the NBa mde a new list, guys like Duncan, Kobe would for sure take over Pippen's spot....

    what do you guys think?

and one more thing. alot of anti-MJ fans like to use the excuse "jordan had to shoot alot to score, pip didnt" i would like to clear this misconception up. It is FALSE. Pippen's best shooting FG% ever was 52%. Jordan had like 4 seasons better then that. In fact jordan's best shooting % was like 54%.

So jordan took more shots then pip, but he was also a much BETTER shooter. So I dont wanna hear no "pip is great because jordan had to jack up shots, pip didnt" crap.

Ya, I never understood why the NBA made a list of 50 greatest and included players that were still playing. They should only have people in there that have finished their careers. Only then can you see how really great they are. Jordan, Shaq, and Pippen shouldn't have been included. Although they are all great, who knew what were to become of them. What if Jordan had gotten a Grant Hill type injury and never won any titles? Then, that would have really messed that up.

Oh wait, they did this in the mid-90's right? Oh well, in any case, they should still just wait till players are done with their bball playing days.

They did it in 1999, I'm sure you can find the list somewhere. It was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the NBA.

That's right. I remember now. It would have been funny if they did include Grant Hill on that list. Then they would have looked the fool.

I felt that Payton and Kemp should've been on that list at the time.........well that has changed a little bit. Kemp is living in a Mcdonalds, while Payton is one of the best PG of all time.

You need to be comitted to the nearest hospital! Pippen is one of the greatest SF's to ever play the game and rightly deserves his spot in the top 50 players of all time. TO even suggest that little punk's like Kobe or Duncan deserves a spot in front of Pippen is an insult.

Bryant, T-Mac, Duncan etc have not done anywhere near enough to be considered on that list. Payton is the only guy to have a case. Garnett has won absolutely nothing, I like KG but 50 greatest of all time!!

You need to watch more of the players or just read more about the players that are on that list.
