Reinventing the NBA
Does anyone remember back in the day when people thought Michael Jordan was a hog for taking 25 shots and hitting 14 of them? His teammates used to say he was shooting too much and he was taking all of this criticism. But nowadays, Kobe is regularly popping 30+ shots per game and he isn't getting the criticism that Jordan got and his field goal % is lower? Why is that? I'll tell you why. Because Kobe is reinventing the NBA. He is going to average 35 ppg either this year or next year, but he is also gonna average 33 shots per game and no one is gonna say anything because eventually, that may become the norm. Everyone is so interested in scoring nowadays and the public wants to see high scorers so the best scorer in the league (Kobe) is giving the public what they want. Don't get me wrong, Kobe is an amazing talent and he has a superstar career ahead of him. But why is no one making a big deal about him throwing up 30+ shots per game. Personally, I dont care because I love watching Kobe play because everything he does is Jordan-esque, and me being the biggest Jordan fan in the world, I have to respect Kobe for having the intelligence to base his game on the best player to ever grace the court. But why is he shooting so much? Will his aggressive style of play (err... shooting) reinvent the NBA? Will this amount of shots become the norm? Will the NBA turn into a showboat style, who can score more points type of game and stray from the fundamentals? Absolutely! Give it some time!Tags: None -
Re: Reinventing the NBA
Jordan reinvented the NBA's Superstars today. If Jordan hadn't played the way he had there would be no Kobe Bryant's or Tracy McGrady's. Ya never know, Kobe may play his game around averaging 20 assists a game because Magic Johnson dominated for so long in a new different way back in the 80's if it weren't for Jordan. Nobody had ever seen a player like Jordan back in the day. Now you will start seeing talented gifted players with enough talent to use skills like MJ did in his hayday. Hence KB and TMac. And KG have we ever seen a player quite like KG? I know I haven't. Growing up in Chi town may have played an influence on what type a player he is today.Comment
