I've seen quite a few people here using gif files of NBA Highlight Clips as their Icon - how do you do something like that? Any help would be much appreciated - thanks!

Yep its pretty simple after that.
Some formats work and others don't. It's pretty much random.
I downloaed paintshop pro and that didnt seem to work.
Jasc Animation Shop worked good. I have some steve franchise Gif's anybody interested?Comment

Download.com, just search for animation shop by jasc, or jasc animation shop.
There's an option to resize the animation. The animations and or photos here are resized to 80 by 80 pixels. I just make all of mine 80 by 80 default.Comment
