Look, I'm done with the personal attacks against Skillz. I think it is obvious that Kobe has a chance of being a better player than Jordan . . . so does TMac. But I think KDre was right from another post when he said that when Jordan was playing, he was a step above everyone else and had no one to compare to. Now that Jordan is leaving, ESPN and the NBA NEED someone to take the throne. The fact of the matter is that they NEED another MJ to carry the NBA into the future. So everything Kobe does is going to be compared to MJ. But I also read another interesting post where someone said to stop calling Kobe a better 3-point shooter than Jordan because Jordan had years of shooting above 40% from the arc. Actually, I honestly think that Kobe is close to Jordan from an offensive standpoint. The one problem I have is that Kobe hasn't shot above 50% from the field for a year and he also tends to go at people one-on-one instead of doing the best for the team. I also think that if Kobe is off from the outside, he should go at the basket more. The main reason Jordan has such a high field goal % for some years is because he used to take it right at people and dunk over them. He would take high-percentage shots. Kobe takes too many jumpers. He is young and should take it to the hole more. But who am I to critique? The fact still remains that in 15 years from now, Kobe could very well be considered the greatest. I just think that everyone is looking for someone to lead the NBA into the future and be the next MJ and Kobe is that person because he has skills and plays in a big market. If TMac played in NY, he would be getting just as much exposure and comparisons, if not more. I think they both need to up their defense more though. Neither one of them impresses me on defense NEARLY as much as Jordan did. People consider Jordan the best ever because he was a great offensive player AS WELL AS a fantastic defensive player. Listen, Chamberlain was a better offensive player than Jordan, hands down. But the main reason Jordan is considered the best ever is because he was just as tenacious a defender as he was an offensive threat. THAT'S WHAT MAKES A GREAT PLAYER!!! PLAYING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL!!! Kobe may very well be a better offensive player than Jordan now (it's very close IMO). But the thing that separates MJ from all the other greats is that his defense was just as good as his offense. And that's the bottom line . . . call me an MJ fanboy if you will but those are the facts. If I am an MJ fanboy, then so are about 95% of the other sports fans in the world. But that is what separates Jordan from the rest.

Danm good post bro. I agree with just about everything you said(especially about how Kobe needs to take it to hole more). But Kobe is a MUCH better 3 point shooter. Stats can lie sometimes. The reason Kobe's 3pt % is so low is because he refuses to take the WIDE open shot sometimes. I watch him game after game, fish will swing the ball to wide open Kobe and he won't shoot. Then he waits for the defender to face him up and THEN he shoots. I also believe Kobe has a better jump shot then young Jordan, and its only gonna get better.

I definitely agree about the taking it to the hole more. It's all good when his jumper is on and he just stays out there and drains them all day, but when it's off, he needs to just take it to the rack and dunk, or get fouled or dish. I really scratch my head sometimes, he can beat anyone off the dribble in a heart beat, but sometimes he just doesn't. I think part of it is "playing within the offense", that's the same reason he swings the ball and passes up so many of those open threes that you're talking about.

Yeah, sometimes forces things like it's only him against all five opposing players. Maybe the reason he shoots a lot of jump shot now is to set up his inside game in the playoffs. Hmm...

i can't wait to see playoff Kobe. Imagine if he went on one of his scoring runs, in the playoffs!? Kobe averaging 41.2ppg throughout the playoffs? hmmm..... i like the sound of that!
