He is the single most IMPORTANT piece for the Spurs. The Spurs CANNOT consistently create shots without Tim Duncan DOWN LOW. If Tim was not on that team, they would be a lottery team, PERIOD.

Tell me this if you think Tim Duncan is not the MVP. Name me another team that has the NBA best record with their second leading scorer averaging less than 15 point a game?

And Shaq isn't? Did you watch the Lakers play without Shaq, and then with an unhealthy Shaq? Now a days the regular season doesn't mean squat...I just think they should hand out the award after the playoffs are said and done...cuz those game are what REALLY count.

Well, if you want to pay for the players' salaries, do so.

                  Tracy McGrady - 32.1 ppg / 5.5 Ast / 6.5 Reb / 1.6 Stl / .08 Blk/ FG% 45.7/ FT% 79.3 / 3PT% 38.6.

                  Kobe Bryant 29.8 ppg / 5.9 Ast / 6.9 Reb / 1.6 Stl / .08 Blk / FG% 44.9 /FT% 84.2 / 3PT% 38.2

                  Shaq O'Neil 27.5 ppg / 3.0 Ast / 11.1 Reb / 2.4 Blks / .06 Stl / FG% 57.3 / FT % 62.3/ 3PT% 0.0

                  Tim Duncan 23.3 ppg / 3.9 Ast / 12.9 Reb / 2.9 Blks / .07 Stl / FG% 51.3 / FT % 71 / 3PT 27.3

                  Kevin Garnett 23.0 ppg / 6.0 Ast / 13.4 Reb / 1.6 Blks / 1.4 Stl / FG% 50.4 / FT% 75.3 / 3PT% 28.2

                  Dirk Nowitzki 25.1 ppg / 3.0 Ast / 9.9 Reb / 1.0 Blks / 1.4 Stl / FG% 46.5 / FT% 88.0 / 3PT 37.7

These are my candidates, and just by looking at stats it seems like all them are pretty much even. If one is higher in points, the other is higher on boards, or one is higher in blocks, the other is in steals ect. With the exception of Shaq (66), all of them played 75 games +. Due to Shaq missing almost a 1/4 of the season, that is enough games to knock him off the MVP talk IMO.

IMO I couldn't give the MVP award to Tim Duncan two years in a row. If Shaq doesn't even have a second one, i don't think Tim should. And yes i do believe that is a legitimate argument. I think its an exclusive club to have more than one mvp award (Jordan, Bird, Magic, Moses and Karl Malone, Wilt, Russel and Kareem) and to have Tim get into that club before Shaq is an insult.

Other players like Kobe, Dirk have a good supporting cast. So defensive attention can be distributed more evenly with their teams. Tim Duncan has a great supporting cast also. Role players up the ying yang.

T Mac and KG have all the attention of the defense and still can put up those stats almost evenly with the rest of the candidates. KG hasn't missed one game this year either. Even though McGrady is my favorite player,i don't think he deserves the MVP over KG. I had to factor in their teams records. KG goes against way tougher competition than T Mac and now has home court advantage in the first round. Where as T Mac is in the weaker east and is in the 7th seed.

I know for sure this award is going to a high schooler.

I also like to add that i don't think the Regular Season MVP should be chosen after the playoffs. Playoff performance shouldn't be a factor at all with the MVP award. I consider Finals MVP the highest award you can get in the NBA and i'm sure anybody would rather have that than the Regular Season MVP award. Maybe they should add a Playoff MVP award. I seen many years where the Finals MVP would be different from the Playoffs MVP. But thats my MO.

Tracy McGrady averages 32 ppg because he is the only option on his team.

If Kobe didn't have to share the scoring load with Shaq he don't you think he would rack up 35+ a game?

It's real close between KG and Kobe but I give it to KG for taking a bunch of scrubs to home-court advantage.

But don't be suprised if they give it to Kobe. Both are very deserving of it.

Why not Duncan? #1. They don't like giving it to a guy back-to-back. #2. He really isn't a one-man show like KG because he has a much better supporting cast than the big ticket. This means he doesn't have to own every night. On the other hand, KG has to get it done every night for his team to win.
