I've literally seen him play hundreds of times.

Yes, he's a very good player. Is he THAT good? It depends on what you mean by THAT good. He's a borderline all-star player.

He can score, at the three point line, mid-range, and in the post. He requires a double-team in the post. Just a great shooter period, also a decent athlete. However, he's a mediocre rebounder, can't really score much driving to the basket (below average dribbler), and a below average defender. He can't take over a game. He can't carry a team.

He can put the ball in the hoop. He's overpaid and one dimensional. He's probably worth about 9-10 million per year.

He's a great player and I think he'll be an all-star in the East. But to call him a savior?! Hmm not so much.

Rich (Parsippany, NJ): What is worse... The Rashard Lewis contract or having a 40 year old playing an 18 year old karate champion in movie with a millionaire businessman taking time off from his company to ruin an 18 year old karate champion's life?

SportsNation Bill Simmons: (1:50 PM ET ) The Rashard Lewis contract.

Rashard Lewis will get the Magic into the playoffs, and maybe the second round, but I don't really see him doing nearly what his contract is worth.

This is Dwight's team, and the better Dwight gets, the better this team will be. Rashard is just a complimentary player who will hopefully give us some perimeter scoring we so sorely lacked last year.

He's obviously an improvement over what we had before... but I think in the long run, the money could have been used much more wisely.

The playoffs are in question from where I stand for the Magic. East is going to be a gauntlet this year.

Rashard just got injured yesterday against the Bobcats. He twisted his ankle.

The preseason isn't even over yet and the Magic curse is just beginning. This is going to be a long 6 years for Rashard and the Orlando Magic.

No, he's not that good. Great shooter, great scorer and that might play well off of Howard, but he's not a great passer, rebounder or defender, especially for his position. He's not strong enough to play low on the block, and he doesn't handle the ball as well as some of the smaller SF's. He's a PF that needs to put on another twenty pounds and learn to start banging down low. Either that, or he needs to work on his handle and start learning how to make plays for other people. Right now, he's a great third option and a decent second option, but that team's perimeter defense isn't helped at all by this aquisition.

Different types of players. Odom is an all-around player who can dribble. Lewis is an efficient scorer.

yeah, terrible comparison to Lamar Odom. plays nothing like him. keRplunK's 2nd post in this thread is Rashard's game in a nutshell. Tremendous scorer who is pretty average to below average at everything else
