    Who Has Surprised in Pre-Season

Name some players who had you raising your eyebrows. Don't name players that were already expected to play well.

For me, the one pre-season game I've watched so far was the Lakers vs. the Warriors. Tell ya what, Azubuke for the Warriors is going to give them a hell of a boost. I could even see him starting. He torched the Lakers, the Lakers' starters. He has a ton of energy, plays defense and can hit from anywhere on the court. He's a nice combo guard.

Also from the Warriors is Marco Bellineli. I know he was highly regarded coming from Europe, but I hadn't seen him play against NBA talent. He as well lit up the Lakers from the perimeter. He showed the ability on one play to be able to take it to the rack and score in traffic as well. The Warriors are going to be trouble.

From the Lakers, their rookie Javaris Crittenton is instant offense. I don't quite know his range yet, but he is a deadly penetrator. He can change his speeds just like that, and is somewhat bigger than most point guards. He's surprised me a ton, I didn't think his game would translate well on the next level. The Lakers seem to be o.k. at the point guard spot, with Fish, Farmar and now Critt.

Someone who somewhat surprised me was Sasha. Everyone thinks the guy is garbage, but I've stuck with him even when I was beginning to really dislike him. At the beginning of his career coaches were using him wrong. He's more a two guard who can occasionally take it to the rack.. he plays irritating defense as well.. he'll be a good option for the Lakers off the bench.

Re: Who Has Surprised in Pre-Season

Ray Allen surprised me yesterday vs the T-Wolves. I mean, the guy is a crazy shooter but he had a great game. The expectations are mostly from KG and Pierce but Allen took control and scored like there's no tomorrow. I've always felt that Allen is a bit of a miss. In this I mean that he had all the attributes to become much more than a pure shooter. He could be a slasher, a deadly dunker and a hell of a defender. And he did all that for a short time in Milwaukee as far as I can remember. But when he moved to the Sonics he became the pure shooter he's today. One of the best shooters ever but could be even a bigger player. Anyway, he had a GREAT game and he's one of my favorite players.

Marcus Slaughter looks pretty decent for Miami.

The Celtics and their chemistry so far. Also, the great skill at that Jon Pax has at locating talent. He always brings in decent players who really could be an impact on the team. Noah really impressed me with his heart and hustle. Also didn't know that JamesON Curry was such a great ball handler.

Bellineli is crazy in NBA2k8, he never misses.

It's alright, GSW. We know how years, and years and years and years and years of defeat can make someone bitter.

Ray Ray has ALWAYS been a complete player, he's such a great shooter though the other stuff gets over looked.

He's actually a more than solid defender. His defense is certainly overlooked.
