Re: Who Has Surprised in Pre-Season
Name some players who had you raising your eyebrows. Don't name players that were already expected to play well.
For me, the one pre-season game I've watched so far was the Lakers vs. the Warriors. Tell ya what, Azubuke for the Warriors is going to give them a hell of a boost. I could even see him starting. He torched the Lakers, the Lakers' starters. He has a ton of energy, plays defense and can hit from anywhere on the court. He's a nice combo guard.
Also from the Warriors is Marco Bellineli. I know he was highly regarded coming from Europe, but I hadn't seen him play against NBA talent. He as well lit up the Lakers from the perimeter. He showed the ability on one play to be able to take it to the rack and score in traffic as well. The Warriors are going to be trouble.
From the Lakers, their rookie Javaris Crittenton is instant offense. I don't quite know his range yet, but he is a deadly penetrator. He can change his speeds just like that, and is somewhat bigger than most point guards. He's surprised me a ton, I didn't think his game would translate well on the next level. The Lakers seem to be o.k. at the point guard spot, with Fish, Farmar and now Critt.
Someone who somewhat surprised me was Sasha. Everyone thinks the guy is garbage, but I've stuck with him even when I was beginning to really dislike him. At the beginning of his career coaches were using him wrong. He's more a two guard who can occasionally take it to the rack.. he plays irritating defense as well.. he'll be a good option for the Lakers off the bench.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Who Has Surprised in Pre-Season
Man, Melo is going to have an MVP year this season. He's looking to pass more and he's nailing the three... can't wait. The Nuggets looked great from 7 rows back on Tuesday -- JR didn't shoot well, but he started attacking the rack in the 4th and got three and-1 plays. Al Thornton looked pretty nice at that game for the Clips -- he didn't shoot well, but he was aggressive and got some boards.
And yeah, Azubuike is crazy -- every time they gave him some burn last season, he killed it. I hope he gets some playing time -- I'm sure with Nellie's crazy *** still at the helm, he and Bellinelli will get some good minutes. Haha, I love Nellie -- what would the NBA be without his Scotch-fueled psycho lineups?Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Who Has Surprised in Pre-Season
Louis Williams may be that gem the Sixers were looking for. This dude looks like AI Lite, except he can shoot and play in a set offense.
He killed in the summer league and so far in two preseason games:
vs. Knicks
23 minutes
4-10 shooting
16 points
3 rebounds
2 assists
1 steal
0 turnovers
vs. Nets
40 minutes
12-18 shooting
33 points
5 rebounds
5 assists
3 steals
2 turnovers
Seriously, this dude came on really late last season when he got time in the last handful of games. And he seemed to have come off that with some major confidence. He is proving he can score in this league. Once Miller is traded (at least he should be) this season, it will be a treat to watch LW do his thing.Comment

Re: Who Has Surprised in Pre-Season
Marvin Williams. He's always had the ability to drive to the basket and draw fouls, but until now, he'd only done it in summer league games. He'd always been too timid in actual NBA games to play with confidence. Now he's doing it in the preseason. I hope it carries over to the regular season, he can be a matchup problem for most SFs.Comment
