I realize this was facetious hyperbole, but it goes too far when you back it up after scrutiny. Someone challenged your point, and you repeated it: "Iverson can't shoot."

That statement is incorrect, because it is not an option as a defender to just back off of Iverson. That would be bad scouting. That is a scouting report for Rajon Rondo, or TJ Ford, not the former 4 time scoring champion.
Here's my definition of a shooter and a scorer....

    Shooter:

    Ray Allen
    Michael Redd
    Rip Hamilton

    Scorer:

    Allen Iverson
    Gilbert Arenas

And then you have players that are both: Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, etc.

    Agreed? cool.

Ray Allen would be both then and Wade is not a shooter. Zero is a pretty good shooter also. IMO

No, you said that Iverson couldn't shoot. I'm never going to agree on that. The issue wasn't whether he was more of a scorer than a shooter. The issue was you saying that he couldn't shoot. If you're rescinding your original statement and using this more moderate assessment as a proxy, then fine, but as it stands your statement (Iverson can't shoot) is still on the table.

You can't have it both ways. Either you truly believe that he can't shoot at all, or you think that his shooting could be better, but took a shot at him with an exaggerated criticism.

Actually, Wade is a phenomenal mid range shooter. He just doesn't have a 3. Rip Hamilton was the same way until about two years ago or so, and was still considered a shooter.

Allen that last two years has been both, but before that, he wasn't. Wade can shoot. Ask him to make his jumpers and he will at a pretty good clip.

Arenas is not a pretty good shooter. He's an alright shooter. Just like AI.

LOL no, seriously, I haven't taken a shot at AI in this thread. To say he can't shoot isn't a cheap shot at him. It's the truth.

                Really?

It's not surprising that you don't want to own up to it. Most people who argue in polemics don't have the fortitude to remain in that stance in the face of a dialectic driven by reason. It's expected for layman to follow the example of lazy sports propagandists, and you're no different.

You said Iverson can't shoot, and everyone who watches basketball knows that's false, including you.

You can try and sound like Mr. Spock all you want...you took something and made it much bigger than it really is. Not unless you turned yourself into a robot and don't sense sarcasm in any way.

Don't trip while you're backpedaling. Someone asked if you were taking shots at AI and you backed up your statement with another shot at AI. I understand how it'd be hard to own up to something that silly.

                          Who's backpedaling?

Saying Allen Iverson is not a good shooter is not a "shot" at Iverson. It's the truth. He's never shown to be a good shooter, a consistent jump shooter, nothing.

I'm not going to look for AI to keep shooting jump shots all the time. That's not a strength of his.

So again, how is saying all of this...a "shot" at AI?

"He can't shoot" isn't exactly a compliment, and isn't exactly a fact. So that's why I saw the comment as a "little shot" or a slight. The man can shoot just fine, I think sometimes he can shoot a little too much, but that's a different issue.

Of course he can shoot. Any nitwit can see AI can shoot. But he is not a good shooter. He's an "okay" shooter.

Nate Robinson has done really well so far in preseason.
