NBA isnt exciting anymore..

Used to be so excited at a new NBA season, following the trades and whatnot. Last season, I didnt really care and this season, I only read the headline news and dont even bother usually. The NBA used to be so exciting. Nowadays, it's a borefest...1on1s all the time, no ball/off-ball movements. Players being punks and fighting, refs betting on games... lost all credibility. Stern should do something about the league as it is going downhill.

I agree with both comments here - if u're not interested then don't watch it. But yeah, the NBA has become less exciting the recent years. Mostly because too much money is involved everywhere in the NBA. It's become a money thing more than winning thing IMO.

That's great except for the "team play, offball movement" comment is total BS. In that regard, it's getting better now than it has been in the past 7+ years.

Just cause it is better doesn't mean it is good. I really enjoyed the NBA last season, but it will never be like the late 80's to mid 90's.

I'm getting awfully sick of these threads. How is the NBA so boring? Because it was better in "your day"? The NBA is turning into a great game, with lots of team play and offball movement (See: Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Etc.). There's plenty of characters in the league who make it interesting (Arenas, Bryant, Marbury...), and plenty of young superstars who are taking over the league. It may have been boring before, but the NBA is back folks. So if you don't like, don't watch.

If your looking for Basketball from the 80's and 90's, theres plenty of DVD's out there, and videos on Youtube. But honestly, this is 2007. So just like evrything els, things change, players become better, more athletic, etc etc.

I tihnk some guys get so caught up on the whole "this era sucks" tip. And truthfully its getting really OLD.

Face it man, Magic and Bird are old and done, Barkley is done, Hakeem is done, Kareem is Done. Reggie miller is done, Shawn Kemp and GP are done. Pippen and Jordan are done.

Get over it.

I think a lot of this has to do with those teams that are stuck on the bottom of the tank. I wonder where the OP's team is from. When I'm watching my Bulls, I enjoy them every second. They play well together but are still a little young with their on-court maturity in making decisions. I love seeing them get better and better. Basketball to me is the greatest sport in the world if not tied for soccer. OP's just like the whack teams. Buy a league pass and root for a team that is on the positive side of the standings that might interest you.

Good post, and I agree that the NBA is back for the most part. A few more years and it'll finally have freed itself from the HS exodus disaster. The league is 10x better than it was 5-6 years ago.

The NBA has been on the rise since the Yao Ming draft. There was a period before that,after MJ left, where it was almost unwatchable.

Now, pretty much every team is competitive, there's a lot more athleticism than ever before, a bunch of young talent, and a bunch of solidified stars. I also think that incoming players have a lot better basketball IQ than from years past (Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Lebron, Wade, Carmelo, etc.) rather than just pure run and jump talent.


Honestly, it's cool watching the best games from the 80's and 90's, but I don't see how the basketball was WAY better than it is today. In fact, I think teams from today would beat up on most of the league a decade or two ago. A bunch of guys on NBA benches today that would be starting on most teams if they were in the L 15-20 years back.

I think the NBA is as deep as it's ever been... and while there's no real Magic Lakers/Bird Celtics/MJ Bulls type of player or team, it's still just as interesting to me.

These threads usually come from people who's team really sucks. I don't know about other people but I've loved every year since the day I knew what basketball was. People tend to forget the BAD teams of the 80's and 90's. There were a lot of them.

Hey say wait a minute....

lets not get to far ahead of ourselves. I'd take 5 or 6 different all star teams of the 90s against any of the all star teams 2000 and beyond. As far as talent goes, we have our elite teams, our buster squads, pure bench players, great role players, all stars and scrubs just as it was in any other era.

I disagree that the NBA isn't exciting, but the ref inconsistencies is annoying. The star player treatment gets really annoying when a non-star does the same thing and keeps getting called. If a star player is fouling someone then call it. Also don't treat star players with kid gloves, some guys get foul calls where a guy didn't even touch him.

I still enjoy the NBA and playoff basketball is great fun to watch!
