Hughes contract may be be worst in the league. Thats a big, immovable piece. Most major deals start with a tradable star that just isn't working out with his current team. No GM in their right mind would touch Larry with a ten-foot pole. Same with Z. So right off the bat, we don't have any big, tradeable salaries, like say a team that is always stuffed with overpaid dudes like the Knicks (sorry, B)

The reason we had to settle for Larry? The Cavs front office thought that some players in this league would clamor to play with Lebron...but his star is too big. No one on an elite level wants to play with a guy who gets that much media attention it seems, even if he is unselfish. The great young players want to shine on their own squads, which is why both Redd and JJ said thanks but no thanks in 05. Our front office has been way too passive and no one is going to come begging to play here, especially when our offense is so boring and vanilla.

The Cavs built this team around too many specialist, none of whom are special at anything. Until those deals fall off, the Cavs are strapped. That said, Z is looking great so far, the team got a little confidence with the Sasha re-signing, and some of the vastly "improved" East really isn't all that improved, as seen by the Cavs spanking of the "new look" Knicks, lol...so the Cavs will probably still be a 5 or 6 seed and a matchup no one will want to see in that first round. We'll be OK...we have to be, cuz I don't see how we can get any help...

Rumors I've heard from several people is that Cleveland sat on their butts offseason to save up money. They are going to go after Arenas hard after this season. He's still close with Hughes, and I guess he's said he wants to play with LeBron. Arenas has an "early termination" option on his contract after this season.

I wouldn't exactly say that they aren't eager to play with Lebron. Just that there isn't anything in Cleveland. Players can see when potential can go down. Look at Milwaukee and Atlanta right now. They have more talent on their teams than Cleveland. The main thing that is messing up the team is the fact that the gm can't form a team properly. I think he's trying to mold the team into a Spurs-like flow but they aren't getting the proper pieces. The Cavs have a bunch wrong with them.

If they land G.A. though, that would be a good pickup. I just can't see why they went out to get Larry though. He's so garbage. Everytime I see him, he's a non-factor on both ends of the floor. For him to be getting paid so much and Lebron having to score in the high 30s to 40s, it doesn't make sense. Hughes is one of the biggest reasons problems with the Cavs. He needs to get out of his funk or whatever the heck has him by the ankle.

On another note, I think that having someone like Turk would be the best scenario for them. The thing was the Cavs weren't that good last season. They were just on a high that they rode straight to the finals. Honestly, they need a shooter that can torch beautifully. Maybe they can look around for some up and comer who hasn't really made a name for themself. Heck, with Larry Hughes being so garbage, they could definitely trade him for someone solid cause they definitely aren't going anywhere. They are good for something though. They helped the Suns get some of their mojo back without Amare on the floor tonight.......
Mike Brown is not a good coach. Van Gundy has coached for much longer than Brown, and only missed the playoffs one year of the seassons he's finished.

I don't know who the Cavaliers need specifically but they just need talent. Without Lebron this team looks awful.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Oh, I hope that happens. I love watching a good train wreck. Arenas can't stand not being the center of attention. He'd crack LeBron over the head with a steel chair before the season ends. This smiley perfectly sums up the future Lebron/Agent Zero relationship:

I've heard those rumors too. Could get ugly though, cuz I have it on good authority that James/Hughes don't get along that well. An Arenas/Hughes v. Bron lockeroom would be a mess, and I'm pretty sure Mike Brown wouldn't survive it....

Re: Who do the Cavs need?

The Cavs NEED the GM that they're trading with to turn into someone like Kevin McHale / Isaiah Thomas or someone totally incompetent in running a front office.

Here's the problem that lies within: the Cavs have NOBODY TO TRADE except LeBron. What sane person would take on Hughes's garbage contract? Or Big Z's?

Cavaliers are screwed basically. You have nothing to trade except LeBron and you failed to get Michael Redd two years ago. Terrible. Signing Larry Hughes for the sake of signing someone was stupid.

This is what happens when you make two fairly dumb signings with Hughes and Z's new contract. We have nothing to trade except possibly Gooden, and even then, that's nothing that is going to land us anyone.

Watching tonight's game against the King's, it's OH SO APPARENT, that something has to happen.
