Lamar O-Dumb gets suspended one game

NEW YORK, Jan. 1, 2008 – Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom has been suspended one game without pay and assessed a Flagrant Foul, Penalty Two for flagrantly fouling Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics by throwing himself into Allen and knocking him to the floor, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President Basketball Operations.

The incident occurred with 2:56 remaining in the fourth period of the Lakers 110- 91 loss to the Celtics at Staples Center on Dec. 30. Odom will serve his suspension on Jan. 4 when the Lakers host the Philadelphia 76ers.

They should've given him two just because the refs didn't kick him out.

He tackles Ray Allen and Ray Allen gets a tech.

That definitely deserves more than one game. It's just utter misconduct.

Naw one game is fine. Crappy decision by Odom, but they don't need him against the 6ers.

Dre, I was really surprised to read about your views on Stu Lantz. I watch every game and he's about as fair as you could ask for. It's actually inexplicable that you'd call him a homer.

Even as a certified Celtics *****, that should be at least 2 games.

LOL man, Stu is far from fair. I've muted the tv on a number of occassions while he talked.

Go listen to some old Chick Hearn commentary. Stu is totally one sided, especially when the same kind of foul happens on both teams. Reconsider and pay more attention.

This is just one situation where only the blindest can make excuses, but during games Stu drinks the kool-aid.

"I don't know what Odom was thinking," Allen said Sunday. "I got the rebound and he tackled me. I know this is Sunday, but this is the wrong field."

I simply am not hearing what you're hearing when it comes to Lantz. I don't hear him insert his own opinions on ref calls very often. The most times I hear him question are when it's like a 50/50 ball and a Laker gets whistled for a foul. Other than that I have no idea what you're talking about, he's far from one-sided.

and when its the same call for the other team, he still questions.

no biggie though, nobody cares about Stu because he's simply not that great of an announcer anyhow.

wow Lantz is by far the biggest homer to ever be a PBP guy ever

He's extremely onesided matter of fact ive never heard him say anything bad bout the lakers even when the lakers don't play good, if theres a foul on the lakers he'll say it shouldnt be call and if theres not one called for the lakers he said it should of been called, i mute the game after 3 mins in the first qtr sunday.

Stu Lantz is the worst PBP of all time

I don't see why he got suspended. Edge does that every match & hasn't been punished once for it.

Ehh whether or not anyone "cares" about him wasn't really my point. Nor were his abilities to broadcast a game. He gives props to the players who deserve it, Laker or not, and has not defended a Laker blindly [i.e. his commentary on the Odom incident].

I do wish however, that he'd call out Bryant when he takes bad shots. That in my opinion is his only "homer" quality.

I also don't see the huge deal with stu. I think the bulls announcers bigger homers, and this is coming from a bulls fan and I dislike the lakers

While it isnt a big deal, Stu has done exactly what Kash mentioned, and not only that i recall a charge incident on two players, one a Lakers player and one the opposing player.

The opposing player doesn't get the charge call. Stu says its apart of the game, 2 plays later same thing happens to the Lakers, same exact thing, and they get the block. All I hear Stu say is "ah well, a foul is a foul.

Its things like that he does quite often but who cares, i'd rather hear Spiro and Mychal on the radio, than Stu.
