I'm sure you know this just as well as anybody...

...But numbers DO NOT tell the whole story. Facts can not be based purely on numbers. Numbers do not tell you that almost every single 3 pointer that Kobe puts up is contested. There are many other three pointers that Kobe takes that he has no business taking, and are just bad shots.

Look at everybody else on that list. All of them except Nash, are catch and shoot players. The defense is not focused in on them every possession. They get open looks because the defense is focused on or double teaming someone else on the team. Kobe gets hounded every game. You will rarely see Kobe taking an open shot, if ever.

I'm pretty positive that if Kobe was just another role player on the team who took mostly uncontested threes, that his percentage would be up in the 40's.

I am aware of everything you said RocketsFan. BUT the fact remains; Kobe is NOT a role player on a team that takes uncontested shots.

He does not deserve to be in the contest. It will be interesting though. I hope he wins.
