On top of this all, I just don't get why the original poster felt the need to bring this up again. I'm pretty sure we already crucified him once when he made his comments, we're really gonna criticize him again for the same thing? Especially when it is a legitimate reason to not want to play an exhibition game.

Re: T Mac Last year scared to play allstar game in NO.
Cities are far better prepared for the Super Bowl than they are for the NBA All-Star game.
Every gangster rapper, NBA entourage member, etc is in town for the all-star game. Having it in a city without much security to begin is not safe.
You people forget that NBA players get ROBBED AT GUNPOINT on a fairly frequent basis. Antoine Walker and a a few others withinin the last year. Eddy Curry's house was robbed and the dude was ****ing tied up and gagged.
But sure, let's get on the guy for being concerned about his own well-being.
There were players who did not go to THE OLYMPICS for security reasons, so what makes an all-star game any different?Comment

Despite the fact that it's held in a tourist area with police everywhere and that it's the home of the Sugar Bowl, is in the rotation for the BCS Championship while being a frequent host of the Superbowl, New Orleans is the worst place to hold a huge event. You have no idea what you're talking about.
And the ASG is completely different than the Super Bowl or BCS title game.
Originally posted by aholberThats the Marriott. Right in the heart of the city where most of the traffic and congestion is.
DC has a high crime rate and no one complained about the game being there.
On a side note... if I were TMac, I wouldn't have said those things and I would be playing in the ASG.Comment

What makes it different? You said that New Orleans is the worst choice to hold a huge event when that couldn't be further from the truth and is based on you getting pick pocketed at 3 in the morning.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Yeah, the area around the hotel in N.O. is quite dangerous. Almost like a warzone. Just look at Navarro and Sciola run across the street while being harassed by the thugs and hoodlums of N.O. Good thing they have all that security protecting them as they head to the arena.
Tracy's a jerk. I hope they boo him every time the Rockets play the Hornets. Matter of fact, I hope the Rockets and Hornets meet in the 1st round of the playoffs.
Get it...first round + Tracy =
I think you just like to hate on the guy. Didn't we go through this already, and you still refuse to acknowledge his change and maturing this past summer visiting Darfur?
Seriously, I don't think he's too scary to stay in a place facing random genocide.

Re: T Mac Last year scared to play allstar game in NO.
I haven't heard of any big problems yet this weekend... so I could be wrong about it. Just spending my few days in New Orleans didn't give me a real good impression of the city.
Edit: And great point, Dre. Dude was in Darfur just a few months ago, I bet his mind changed since then.Last edited by Brankles; 02-16-2008, 04:06 PM.Comment

I brought it up because for a guy to say he is worried about security, he DIDNT make the all star team. It just Tmac opens his mouth too much and can't back up things he talks about, but hey i just wish I had some of his dough.hahachuckcross.bandcamp.com

Re: T Mac Last year scared to play allstar game in NO.
He did make the all star team but he said he'd rather not play due to his leg and knee injury, and that he felt some other players deserved it more.
That week AI moved up 100K votes and got the starting spot (the league did this), but this entire topic is over a year old, he hasn't said anything.Comment

I don't wanna rag on your city, but I just didn't like it. Sorry if that offends anyone.

Having been to DC a few times, I got a completely different vibe. New Orleans and DC is apples and oranges, you can't compare those cities.
On a side note... if I were TMac, I wouldn't have said those things and I would be playing in the ASG.... and all star weekend is a smaller event than the superbowl so they are two different things

Thinking about it, me going on a drinking binge for three days straight stumbling around during Mardi Gras probably isn't the best way to get a true feel for the city.Comment
