One more thing, I'm not sure how accurate that notion is about L.A. wanting a more traditional 3. I keep hearing this, in different newspapers, ever since they got Pau. It would be stupid in my opinion, to look for another guy at this point. Lamar is a great complimentary player, and he's a natural 3 at that. If management really believes he won't cut it I'll be very upset.

Keep Lamar. He is finally starting to hit some outside jumpshots. Granted he can't shoot as well as Caron, but I like having a front line of 6"10 and two 7 footers once Bynum comes back.

Anyways, Sasha "The Machine" Vujacic provides all the outside shooting we need.

I don't see this happening, but im glad that we are actually looking at options for Odom.

Seriously? I like Odom in his role right now. Especially when Bynum returns. You didn't like his triple double in three quarters? Many more of those are in his future I believe next year when everyone's healthy.

this trade would be IDIOTIC for the Lakers.

The Lakers do NOT NEED MORE SCORING. Lamars PASSING, REBOUNDING, and LENGTH are invaluable to this team.

Butler is a great player, but we don't need what he brings. Lamar playing the 3, dishing off, taking his opportunities, and being a monster on the boards is what we need. Having a huge, quick front line is going to be huge in the playoffs. Lamar is an amazing player and just because he doesn't score consistently doesn't mean he's not consistent. There's a ton more to the game of basketball than scoring and Lamar brings all of it.

                Horrible horrible trade idea. HORRIBLE.

i'm with penguit... not that I don't want Butler, but I don't think we need him. Lamar so far seems like he can fit the role we need. Lakers don't need more scoring.... we got enough w/ kobe, pau, bynum....... lamar can also throw in his 12-15 points....... I like the versatility Lamar brings and his rebounding has been great for his position...... also don't forget Butler is injury prone so it would be a risk......

Nope, even if we could I want to keep Odom.

                      Why?

Because he is a hell of a complimentary player. He is a guy that can play night in a night out as a great role-player and when his contract runs out he really has no right to ask for larger numbers considering he's on a team with Gasol, Bryant, and Bynum.

I'm with the others, we don't need more scoring and Odom is a good SF in his own right I don't really see the need to improve there.

I imagine Odom has been on the trading block all season

he and Ricky Davis are both the ultimate trade bait players

Who knows if Butler didn't demand a trade? He might done it quietly for a long time and no1 in the media knew about it. Go figure...

And the best player we could get is a worse player with a horrible contract?

There's literally not a single thing that makes sense about this. Odom is worse than Butler, older than Butler, and has a bigger contract.

If Washington was going to blow up the team like this, we'd package Butler with Arenas or Jamison and get a legitimate star.

I don't know, it looks like the whole league has the goal to make the Lakers the best team. If Lakers GM calls the Suns GM - u may see Nash in the Lakers at 8am tomorrow morning.

I can't believe how down on Lamar some people are. I don't think this is a bad trade for the Wizards. When Gil comes back, they already have plenty of scoring. They take care of some size issues, and they can slide Antawn to the 3. This gives them a very versatile front line, especially in the East. In their system, I know that Jordan can make use of Lamar's skills in handling the ball, running the floor, rebounding and passing.
