Nets are a better team with Vince Carter as a playmaker and disgruntled Kidd gone. Good win tonight.

Re: 2/20 Games Thread
Vince was balancing playmaking and scoring very nicely today. And Marcus Williams can shoot way better than Kidd and therefore a better scorer. Liked what I saw tonight though.MLB: New York Yankees
NBA: New Jersey Nets
NFL: Detroit Lions / New York Giants
NCAA: UNC

POSTSCRIPT on HORNETS 104, MAVS 93
Some wrapup quickie thoughts, and then I'll get to work on the all-nite expanded coverage (and you can change that bring-it-to-my-couch order of a beer over to a coffee, please)
* Dirk is good for 31 and 8. Dirk is good.
* Kidd's stickout number -- not that numbers tell the whole tale -- is his 6 turnovers. Sometimes, that is sort of the Brett Favre-ian aspect of his game. Maybe things woulda been better statistivcally for him had a few guys like Devean George and Eddie Jones been something more than bagsabones.
* I'd like to say it again. And I don't think my view is colored by the fact that when the Kidd trade was going down, Eddie joined Devean in chanting, 'Hell, No, I Won't Go.' They really need to be something more than Adrian Griffin types here; they are supposed to be able to play a little O. And that's what they did. Very little O.
* Is this right? The Hornets have a 2-22 record in their last 24 aggainst the Mavs. ... and those '2' have come this year?
*CP3 only had 6 at the half. And gets 31 for the game. Halftime adjustments, anyone? 31 points, 11 assists, and 9 steals. And no answer from the Dallas side.
* Kidd's line: 8 points, 5 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, but those six turnovers. ... Overall, though, the electricituy was a major plus. And again, if you are a franchise that admits to being 'stagnant,' ... well, you look forward to some non-stagnant nights with this guy in charge.
* Are we starting to realize that there was no shame in Dallas' first half record? And that there is no shame in being being NO in the standings? Hell, that team is damn good. So is Phoenix, LA, SA and more.
* Four straight road losses for the Mavs. BUT. ...
The news gets a little better regarding the schedule:
About 30 games left for everybody in the Association. This is sort of a football thing, but I thought I’d try it on you: Strength-of-Schedule:
The No. 1 toughest schedule in the second half: Phoenix, with an opponents’ win percentage of .556. No. 2 is the Hornets, at .535. No. 3 is San Antonio at .533. Golden State is No. 6 at .522.
And the Mavs? A relatively easy No. 8 at .510.
I said 'relatively.'
Now, is it too late for me to go see that lunar eclipse?
941pm
FINAL SCORE NO 104, DALLAS 93
It'll be interesting to add up how our Big Three matched up against their Big Three:
Dirk Kidd J-Ho
CP3 Dwest, Tyson
But we really just need to look at the 3rd Q: Dallas scored 20 in the period. And CP3 scored 19. on 7-of-7 shooting.
Incredible.
Know what else, though? Wiuthout looking at the numbers yet, it seems NO’s supporting cast was waaaay better than ours. Peja as the Big Fourth, Bjax off the bench. … No numbers to refer to, but they had more firepower than the Mavs did.
Tim MacMahon of the DMNews reports that Brandon Bass, the Louisiana native and former LSU star, distributed 50 tickets for friends and family for tonight’s game. So The Animal was pumped… but didn’t help much. Jet and Damp did a little somethin. ... But I thought George and Eddie J were nothing more than bagsabones out there.
31 points, 11 assists, 9 Steals for CP3, and he gives em a 104-93 win.

Re: 2/20 Games Thread
Yep, the most Kidd has had this year was 20 so Marcus already beat him. If Marcus's shot becomes consistent, it will be nice to have a point guard than capatalize on the penetration of Carter and RJ. Marcus has a nice window to get a ton of minutes over the next few weeks with Devin out.Comment
