I was becoming a fan towards the end of the Jordan era, and all but forgot about the NBA aside from when Jordan came back. After the 06 playoffs, the NBA's been back.

IMO, what the trades did is create superpowers in the the two biggest teams (LA and Boston), and strengthen (at least name wise) two of the three best other teams (Mavs and Suns).

However, the key thing with the trades was that the teams losing the players were mediocre to start with. Minni, Seattle, Memphis, Miami, and NJ weren't going anywhere. Now, Minni, Seattle, and Miami have/will have a young core to build around.

The premise of this doesn't make sense if you lost interest then moving guys you lost interest in wouldn't change things that dramatically. It'd be like moving the deck chairs on the Titanic. That being said i've always been at the very worst a casual follower of the league. These trades are interesting but they don't make me more interested then I was before.

Do you mean how things can change for me? I was at an all time low last year when my team (sixers) dealt my all-time fav player AI...Thanks Billy King...But now all the roster shake-up in the league and what it has done to the landscape of the league is making me fall back in love w/ it.

Maybe if I was you I would feel the same way. But for me... The trades... The shake-up and blockbuster deals have made me interested in the league again.

The East has 3 teams which could win it all...1 of those teams becoming a contender and having the best record in the league due to a couple of blockbuster deals. In recent years you could pretty much predict that the Spurs and Pistons would be in the finals. Last yr was even worse because the Cavs were no match. Unlike last year, again, the East is much more competitive. Dwight Howard has flourished, the Celtics are the best in the league, and the Pistons are still the Pistons. Now the West has gotten even more competitive due to Gasol being traded, Kidd being traded, a possible deal for Artest, the Jazz getting Korver makes a big difference, a possible deal for the Hornets...Just the emergence of them is interesting.

How can all of that not make sense why I or anyone else would not become once again interested in what happens in the NBA?

True i'm probably taking too much of a personal take on it. Usually when I lose interest in things I totally stay away from it for quite a while. At least these trades have brought some excitement back to the league.

ditto. I am one of those fools who get the NBA League Pass every year (mainly just to watch my sixers play)....but this year, with all the crazy trades in the west, it has been alittle bit more interesting to tune in to non-sixer games.

Interest has certainly waned but it started up again about 3 years ago.

I just wish it was all around, and not just in the Western conference.

Never really lost interest but about 95 to 02 were some hard times. IMO the talent sucked at that point aside from the big names. But now teams are running, having fun, and the last few drafts have been crazy.Too bad the East sucks and I don't want to watch Detroit in the finals.

I like the craziness of the West, it's just a shame some good teams won't make the playoffs. And it's also good to see fans that went away, coming back to the game and realizing there is actually life after Jordan.

Ill say this. The NBA regular season was killing me, and im a fan. Have bought league pass at begining of the regular season for like 8 years now.

This year I didnt, and I was sad to realize I didnt miss it.

After the gasol trade and shaq and all the other talk, I finally re upped and bought it for a hundo.

And just for last night it was worth it

Boston/GS

the west is gonna be such a dogfight im pumped to watch it.

To bad the east is just hrroble, and my bulls are the most unwatchable and boring team in years. I really dont like paxson
