Because that was the previous GM that had made that stupid trade that would allow the pistons to take our pick if it wasn't number 1. We didn't get any of the Lebron, Wade, Melo, Bosh action. The grizzlies team the next year won 50 games, but I imagine the franchise would have been a lot different if the balls had finally bounced our way. Here's a really old draft what if scenario. I only found out about this a few days ago.
What if the New Orleans Jazz didn't trade their 1979 draft pick to the Lakers? I mean imagine Magic Johnson running the show in New Orleans/Utah instead of LA.
