    My Reviews

I need a break from 2K3, and I already took a break from Live about 2 months ago...

    so here are my Reviews:

    NBA 2K3:

    Replay Value: Classic

I played this game non-stop even though it was always an ease for me.

    Gameplay: C

The shooting, dunking, defense, simulates real-NBA basketball but when posting up always results in a easy drive to the basket and Jump stealing works for the cheaters... there is something going on with the gameplay.

    Challenge: F

50 point margin a night... new sliders... 40 point win margin a night... 4 new sliders later... hey, I only won by 2, let me play again... dambit, I won by 40... screw this.

    Visuals: A

The graphics are beautiful, the arenas, the hoop mechanisms, the spalding ball, and the genuinely accurate player faces all contribute to a great score in the visuals category.

    Audio: B

The announcing gets lame after a few games, and the ESPN music starts to get to ya... but NBA 2K3 has some good ESPN sdtrack. I think I would rather go with the LIVE approach to music though it's ESPN presentation.

    Depth: Classic

Scouting for Ameteurs, Unlimited Seasons, signing coaches, trading draft picks... etc...!!! Not many games come close to that.

    Features: A

Create-A-Player is great although it could be more like NCAA 2K3's, and the 50's through 90's legends is always a good thing, but if only we could wear those jersey's as throwbacks assigned for every team.

    Extra Modes: A

The 2 on 2 thru 5 on 5 is my favorite... and it is always a favorite to play with a group of friends or over XBOX Live. I've been to the CAGE before... and boy to they replicate the environment well... from bigger details such as the Wallball court on the side, to smaller details such as the newspaper stand North East of the court.

    Franchise Mode: A

So in depth, that if everything explaining the FRANCHISE MODE in the manual would turn it into the BIBLE. What would make it better is if Big NAMES weren't traded like they were old news.

    Menu Play: Classic

    Anything with ESPN is Classic.

    OVERALL: B+

Definetely a buy... but I caution you not to be too skilled because the CPU can't become skilled.

    NBA LIVE 2003 Coming soon!!!

That's a pretty good review, and I actually agree with your grades. I'd go into more detail about the gameplay though if this is for someone that is considering the game but hasn't played it...that is one of the most important aspects.

Nice, I think we're all in agreeance here (thank you Fred), 2K3 is absolute greatness, although we'll be quite disappointed if 2K4 doesn't improve upon a few glaring imperfections. .

                NBA Live 2003:

                Replay Value: C

When every game becomes a dunk contest, the game gets tiresome. The cut scenes (although pretty sweet) are also overused to the point that you see the same reaction from the bench over five times a game.

                Gameplay: D

This game closer suits an arcade addict, which is why Live gets the score that it gets... because it still claims to be a realistic simulation... realistic my a$$.

                Challenge: B

Rookie to All-star are a sinch when you get the hang of the game, but when playing on Superstar, you're in for the challenge of a lifetime, and a type of challenge that 2K3 has failed to bring this year.

                Visuals: A

The players' faces are even more accurate than 2K3's but the downside is that some of the graphics seem to be too cartoonish, and Live still uses the same arena with no additives to make the arenas distinct.

                Audio: Classic

The Broadcast has improved tremendously from last year, but that is not the classic part of Audio... The classic is brought to you by an amazing soundtrack featuring Fabolous, Snoop Dogg, Hot Karl, and more...

                Depth: D

Let's face it... Live does little to ever improve on their depth in any mode (and most importantly their franchise) at all. Still the same 10 years per franchise, and no hiring coaches, in season player progression, and overall no big job to take on as a head coach or owner of an NBA franchise.

                Features: A

Classic Jersey's, classic players, hot shoes for created players, what more can you ask for!!!

                Extra Modes: F

Personally, I am getting sick and tired of the same old 1 on 1, and only adding a practice mode to the lineup was a baby step in barely what you would call the right direction.

                Franchise Mode: D

Like I said in the Depth category... Live isn't a good representative of what it is like to be the GM, coach, owner or any position to hold on any NBA franchise... plain and simple!

                Menu Play: D

Live really needs to hook up with some sports company to help run these menu's (TNT or NBA TV is a couple of suggestions that I have encountered). The only attractive thing they have going is their music which is a shouldn't change!

                OVERALL: C

Go with 2K3... from the bottom of my heart... 2K3 may be easy but it sure beats the hell out of this game! You want an arcade based game... get NBA Street Vol. 2 when it comes out, and if you are looking for a hot soundtrack, just download their songs off Kazaa!

I hope that was a typo or a mis-hought out thought of yours.

It is clearly evident, Nba live's faces suck. ALmost everybody here agree's to that.
