ESPN's ticker says Baron Davis is opting out

According to Marc Stein. His relationship w/Nelson must really be strained for him to leave 17+mil.

    Seems kind of odd.

Aren't the only teams with money Memphis and Philly? I guess the Wizards if they don't sign Arenas and the Clips and Heat if Brand and Marion opt out and don't resign, but those 3 are unlikely.

I could have sworn I heard he was interested in becoming a Laker and playing with Kobe. Could it possibly happen if he takes a lot less money?

Last word I heard was Marion was not going to opt out. They just flashed that Brand was, but still wanted to stay w/the Clips.

Would it be possible for the Clip to resign Brand and then sign Baron? With Maggette off the books as well as Livingston's deal as well.

I would love to see the Pistons figure out a way to go and get Brand if he does opt out as they are reporting.

Umm the Cavs have no cap room.

I'd love to have Baron on the Cavs but he isn't coming here.

Can't see him leaving California, really. Probably the Clippers but could still re-sign with the Warriors

As much as I love Baron and what he's done for the Warriors.. I hope management isn't dumb enough to overpay him by ways of a max contract or anything ridiculous. They better focus on re-upping Monta and Beans first.

I am baffled quite frankly. Will anyone offer him the same money? Nobody even has any money.. what is he posturing for? Does he want a change of scenery that badly?

I think he's looking to sign with the Clippers. Even if they re-sign Brand to a deal starting at 14-15M, they can still sign Davis to one starting at 11-13M. He gets the years he wants now, gets paired with Brand and stays in California.

I think he wants to stay with the Warriors, but the supposed "fallout" he had with Nelly may be playing a part. Not to mention that he feels like management disrespected him in extension negotiations. So really, who knows?
