Well hopefully Detroit resigns Hamilton and, some might not agree with me, but I would love to see us make a push for Boozer while letting Wallace walk. We also need to protect Maxiell and get an extension setup with him since he is a restricted free agent in 2009. Does anyone trade talent for Marbury just to have his expiring contract fall off the books at the end of 2009? If I was a team looking to make a push for Lebron or someone else from that draft class, I would be tempted to bring in Marbury and clear up all of that cap space in 2009.

The Lebron sweepstakes is a joke.

There was an ESPN front page article that criticized Washington for resigning Arenas because it'll tie up our cap for the Lebron sweepstakes.

The only way Lebron even thinks of leaving Cleveland is if NJ moves to Brooklyn AND Cleveland absolutely ****s up the team beyond repair.

I would imagine Wade and Bosh either don't opt out or opt out to resign, and Joe Johnson resigns.

I think the Houston, Dallas, and Phoenix teams will either be resigned or traded prior to the year, pretty much leaving Lebron as the only franchise player on the market.

14 of the Cavs 15 current active players will be gone by 2010 unless both Delonte and Boobie sign long term deals. We will have a ton of expiring contracts and cap space if Bron bolts.

I can see the Raps making a run for some of the top tier FAs.

One reason I think BC did the JO trade besides beefing up the front court is that his salary comes off the books in '10. So we'd have an extra 22mil in cap space to play with even after Bosh is re-signed possibly.

I doubt there will be enough cap space with KG and Pierce earning $40m/yr combine. Plus there are only two other players on the roster who are under contract through '10-'11 so they've got quite a few holes to fill.

If you only told me we had KG (albeit older), PP, LeBron, Rondo and Perkins, I would fill that bench with literally anyone from the NBDL.

But you'd already be millions over the salary cap. Assuming KG and Pierce's salaries stay what they are, adding a $20 million for Lebron would put them at about $60 million between PP, LBJ, and KG. Rondo would probably be at about $6-9 million up from $1.3 this year. Unless the owner is willing to go tens of millions over the salary cap for several years in a row, there's no chance.
