Knicks Management Blows It Again - Reject deal for Randolph to Clippers

The Knicks have rejected a proposal from the Clippers to trade power forward Zach Randolph, league sources told SI.com.

Terms of any proposal were not known, but the Clippers have enough salary-cap space to accept Randolph's contract without having to give the Knicks equal salaries in return. The Clippers, seeking to replace the departed Elton Brand, were trying to take Randolph off the Knicks' hands while offering little more than cap relief to New York, the sources said. Randolph will make $14.7 million next season, and he has three years and $48 million left on his contract.

While the Knicks are known to be interested in clearing cap space by 2010 to make a run at LeBron James or other potential free agents, the sources said New York wanted more than simple cap relief in exchange for Randolph. The Knicks appear to believe that Randolph will provide a highly productive season under new coach Mike D'Antoni, which could raise his value much higher than it is today. That's why the Knicks were not interested in nearly giving away Randolph's contract, according to the sources.

Other options for the Clippers would include pursuing Hawks power forward Josh Smith or Bobcats power forward Emeka Okafor, but because both are restricted free agents, their respective teams can match any offer.
But I was wrong for questioning the Duhon signing.

not that bad of an idea to wait it out. his value is at its lowest right now. could trade him later down the line for more.

Exactly, there's no rush at this point. They aren't trying to save next season, and if they are going to move forward they have to trust D'Antoni's judgement. If he thinks he can raise Randolph's value, then great.

Ugh... I dont see him being worth his contract. I think he may have a very good year under D'Antoni but I think the negatives of his contract on the cap will outweigh the positive contributions on the team.

But I wonder what they would get for him though from LA.

              Good

I hope this means Curry is gone. Randolph is a much better player than Eddy "5 rebounds a game at 7 feet tall" Curry. Only one of them is staying.

Lol, too many embarrassing moments seeing Nate Robinson out rebound Eddy off of the bench in the box score.

His value is at its lowest right now and another team WANTS to take him off our hands..........................HELLO!

I'd trade him to the Clips for a second round pick and some curly fries, no questions asked.

Even more embarassing actually watch it happen during the game. For some of those boards, Nate was going up against people Eddy's size, while Eddy just has that dumb look on his face watching the boards sail over his head.

I feel bad too, because Eddy's a nice kid. He just doesn't want to be a great player the way other guys do.

Maybe Eddie is James Felton vol. 2 and really hates basketball on the inside. He just replaces alcohol with food.

That's Eddy's problem, no desire for the game. This blob can't even get motivated to stay in shape. I'd dump him before Zach. At least Zach gets rebounds.
