WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) -- Former Wake Forest basketball star Josh Howard was arrested last night after an officer saw him racing with another car on Business 40 near Silas Creek Parkway, police said.
Howard, now a guard with the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, was charged with speeding, reckless driving and speed competition.
The NBA star and former Glenn High School student is in town for his annual basketball camp, where a record 200 kids are in attendance this year.
Police said Howard was driving a black Lexus at the time. The person driving the other car was not charged. His identity is unknown at this time.
Howard was taken to the Forsyth County magistrate's office and released on a written promise to appear in court on Sept. 23.
This wasn't the first time Howard has been in the news for controversial actions. In April, the Mavericks star admitted to smoking marijuana in the offseason (Audio: Howard on Smoking Marijuana), surmising that many NBA players do the same.
