I have to say I was wrong about the Bucks. That trade now looks terrible.
They looked very good v the Spurs and LA...but losing to the Hawks and New York, when you NEED to win is very poor.
I still think they'll make the play off's (as the Wiz have a horror west coast swing awaiting them) but it's doubtful they will do much once they are there.
Early exit = GP and probably Kark gone and they are in the lottery for the next few years.
I don't think it's the trade that has killed them, but rather it is the two forwards they signed to huge deals two seasons ago. Mason and Thomas have both been terrible deals. Mase has NO game left and TT just isn't an elite player. He's a good role player...but he's on elite player money.
Anyone who knows anything about the salary cap knows good player on elite money over 7 years = bye bye franchise.
Seattle have won as best they can. They got Allen for Mason essentially as GP seems to have beeen going anyway.
They are still screwed however as moving GP may have been their only chance to get rid of the surplus of crap C's and PF's that constitute their bench. They are going to be stuck in no man's land for a long time.
Orlando were the big, big winners. They got a top 5 pick in Gooden for free basically as Miller for Giricek looks reasonably even. To give up on a top 5 pick after a few months is horrible IMO.
Everyone says "hey, Jerry West nows what he's doing"...but even the best screw up How is that trade ever going to be good for the Grizz? Right now, after a dozen games for the Magic, Gooden's stock is 100 times higher. Anyone who can argue that the Griz didn't give up on him too early is crazier than I am
