But, I think it would have been much more fitting to use Twisters for OK City.

It's just more dumb than NBA ones...it's like a MLS or WNBA team, not a NBA one. Just doesn't generate the right image off the bat, and first impressions are important.

And Bobcats, Jazz (in a city where there is no Jazz), Nets, Pacers, Wizards and Nuggets are good names? What I'm saying is Thunder only sucks because it is new. In five years, it'll be right up there with the aforementioned names in terms of familiarity. Like I said before, the name isn't bad to me, although I would've preferred Barons or Thunderbirds, but it's the logo that gets me. The key IMO will be how the unis look. If they have that logo on there big and front and center, ugh

Most of those are "things"...ie I can be a "Wizard"...I can't really be a "Thunder". I dunno. Sure, it'll be familiar in a few years, but so was the "Kansas City Wiz" back when the MLS started. Didn't become any less stupid after 3 or 4 years. I'm just voicing my first reaction to it. Lots of team names (even current ones) are sketchy, but that just seems in a different level to me.

Tangible things? Magic, Heat, Jazz, etc. All those names have is the history behind them. In a hypothetical sense, if the Thunder have won an NBA Championship, had a few playoff appearances and a generally successful run in the next 15 years or so, people would regard the name as very commonplace IMO.

Also, the first thing almost everyone thinks about when they hear Oklahoma (as far as something the state offers) is the crazy weather we seem to have. If they would've taken the natural Bison herd tie in with the name, that would've been another level of tying the name to the city.

My argument isn't that the name is among the best in the league, I don't think it is. What I'm saying is that there are several team nicknames which suck and IMO a lot of people are over exaggerating how bad the name is. Is it great? No. Is it the worst professional team nickname out there? I don't think it's close. Just MHO...but there are a lot of really bad team nicknames out there

Before it was even announced I was talking to some people about how I just hoped it wouldn't be orange and blue.

I wanted black and gold or black and red.

The Oklahoma City Outlaws or Oklahoma City Barons would of been a lot better. No one I have talked to around here likes the color or logo. No one.

That being said, a lot of NBA teams have crappy logos. Hopefully the jerseys will be better. I hope they don't have that god awful logo anywhere on them.

Honestly this would have better much better than the actual one and the colors are much better as well. But, that being said, if the logo they have now looks like something belonging in the D-League, the same could be said about this one (and about 50% of other NBA logos)
