Re: Gil Out Til December
After Game 4 of the Playoffs, he had the surgery but he was under strict Doctor's orders this time to not do anything Basketball related until at least August 1st. He said everything was fine when he resumed Basketball activity but in the last few weeks, he said he started to experience a little bit of pain in the knee and decided to get it checked out. This was in the Washington Post's Sports section yesterday too.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Gil Out Til December
if gil didnt do this surgery then it would be just like last year again. he would play the first few games and start feeling pain and miss like the whole season and probably the playoffs. its good he's getting what ever he needs fixing now.
as long as the wizards play like they did when arenas was out last year then we will be fine. the wizards have two all stars and other young talent like nick young and andray blatche. plus were getting etan thomas back for more depth.
no one will be saying anything when gilbert returns back to 100% form.Comment

Re: Gil Out Til December
Gil the next Penny? That's a horrendous comparison
I saw Penny with my own eyes from 1993-1999, so I saw his quick rise and fall. Sorry, but comparing Gil to Penny is laughable. They're both completely different players in terms of how they get their stats. Penny at his peak was explosive, could get to the basket at will and would post up smaller guards at time. Penny could shoot, sure, but he wasn't a perimeter shooter by any means. Having Dennis Scott & Nick Anderson made that pointless when they played with Penny.
Gil is almost exclusively a jump shooter, nothing more. Sure, he'll break down his defender with the dribble and penetrate to the basket for a layup, but that's pretty much it when it comes to 'explosiveness'. Penny's career got derailed quickly because the multiple knee surgeries zapped his strength, which was his explosiveness. After that, Penny had to refine his game to a more perimeter one, and given that he wasn't a strong shooter to begin with, his career was essentially done.
Stop with the Gil/Penny comparison. Just completely off-based. We're dealing with two entirely different types of players here.Comment
