Re: Why the NBA gets little respect

This is one of many reasons people give the NBA little respect.

Another reason is the lack of quality role models.

Another is the suspicion that the NBA is fixed. I would say it is definitely slanted in favor of teams a couple of times.

And another reason is that David Stern is a rat. I don't believe anything that comes out of that man's mouth.

Good thing someone called Stern a RAT, because I was about to say something that would get me in trouble. That R.A.T. walks around with a purse full of golden coins .

OSUfan_88 props for the word choice. Perfect.

Reasons I don't like the NBA: Stern, Awful refs who change the rules for "superstar" players, the fact that it's not about teams but players, non fundamental basketball, and lastly bad character for players(ie Steven Jackson, Anthony, Howard)

Stern has done many amazing things for the NBA. Some not so good. Whether or not you want to like it, the dress code was a great implementation. Try to teach these guys some class, even if it's little steps. Still, it's hard to really like Stern. For every very good thing he's done, he does something that makes you want to crush his windpipe.

Yeah, if more NBA refs constantly apologized about making a game deciding call like this guy, the NBA would get WAAAYYYY more respect. That would make me and fellow fans feel 100% better about losing.

The NBA isnt as bad off as some think....I know its the popular thing to think so, and to "not like the NBA since Jordan days" blah blah blah and the consensous of this board...

but to think the NBA is the stepchild of the sports world your kidding yourself....

I'm guessing he's talking about guys that make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Howard just happens to be the most recent. Unless there's somebody I missed.

Its defintely the last of the top 3 though

The MLB can have guys on a gross useage of drugs... Major Stars, and its forgiven with the start of a new season

The NFL has guys killing people, animals, or drugs, and the fans are still rabid about it

The NBA suffers much more in any of those cases and you know im not lying. Stern just laid some people off Friday blaming the economy....lol

For whatever the reason is, NBA players get scrutinized way more, and the league has lost more respect than those other two sports respectively.
