    The Fate of the NBA

With alot of people leaving the NBA to go to different International Teams what can we think will become of the NBA.

With the value of the dollar here in the U.S dropping then Players can get like 3 times their salary internationally than they earn here.

With Kobe's contract ending in the 09 offseason, I am sure he will get a lot of awesome offers that might make him leave the NBA

The bad players can. 3 times the quality players' salaries are more than the operating budget of every team in the international game.

Euro teams are breaking the bank to get Childress and those dudes. Top NBA players are out of the question.

Personally, I don't think today's stars or any star or upcoming star currently in the league will be playing Euro basketball in their prime.

The stars of tomorrow, I'd say it's a slightly bigger possibility. Many players could just go straight to making nice money at 18 instead of play in college a year. Granted, a decent # of players wouldn't want to leave the States, but many wouldn't mind bypassing the NCAA. Also, most of the one-and-done guys wouldn't exactly benefit education wise in the grand scheme of things with the 1 year in college.

I do think the caliber of player who leaves for overseas will increase as the years go by. You started with the foreign back-up NBA players and Americans who couldn't quite cut it in the L. Now you have sixth man caliber players such as Krstic (even though he is from over there) and Childress. Next might be a legit NBA starter, and so on and so on.
      Favorite Teams:
      NBA: Houston Rockets
      NFL: Tennessee Titans
      MLB: Chicago White Sox
      NCAA: Florida State Seminoles

Come next year, we might see Stern enforce different rules and establish different clauses in the contract that keeps players from going international like that. I don't know how it'll get done, but it might happen if our players keep migrating.

I don't think that the stars will leave to Europe, and if they do - they'll come back to the NBA after one season. It's a nice gimmick and all that but I'm sure they'll find out that they're belong in the NBA. You can say what you want but Euro basketball doesn't fit most NBA stars. And after one NBA star screws a season for Euro team, this thing will stop. Again, it's just a gimmick.
As for the dollar, let's talk next year or 2 years from now - when no one remembers what the fuss was all about.

          OS: Sinclair BASIC

Hey ya'll it depends what the economy does. If the U.S. economy continues to decline I could definitely see the potential European signing of some serious talent.

The NBA has some pretty bad owners. Plus the NBA is not very well liked in most parts of the country. A lot of players enjoy being overseas for obvious social reasons along with the economics of it all.

As others have said, International teams do not have the funding to attract too many decent players. The NBA will be just fine in keeping it's talent home.

This is blown way out of proportion. One American went to a team owned by a billionaire shipping magnate. Not all Euro teams can pay that salary. The exchange rate is a factor, but you also have to consider the higher cost of living in most European cities and the higher taxes. There will not be an exodus. I might rather go to Greece than play for the current Hawks ownership too.
