so you'd like to see Dirk's career end without another legitimate shot to get a ring with another team because you can't get equal value? Of course you are not going to get equal value but it is in both parties best interest to separate. NO ONE, especially, in Dallas will care about the Mavs in 2 years and that's the truth. They'll be in the same boat as the Texas Rangers. Why delay rebuilding? You'd rather win 50 games without a legitimate shot at even getting out the first round? That's stupid. Cuban and Co. have gone with the current nucleus a year too long. All there is, is Dirk surrounded by a bunch of jump shooters. Key on Dirk, stop him, and the Mavs are toast. C'mon, take of the MFFL t-shirt. This group is done. I don't care about being an instant lottery team because in 2 years, you're more than likely there anyways. I like Dirk and he deserves to get out of this mess while he's only 30 years old. You say they aren't contenders so why delay the inevitable.

Re: Time for the Mavs to trade Dirk!
If Dallas doesn't bring in a player that compliments Dirk's skills to keep up with the other teams in the West then I don't see why they shouldn't trade Dirk and whoever else and start the rebuilding process now.Comment

Re: Time for the Mavs to trade Dirk!
Yup, with the current lineup, I don't see this team being a top contender for the title. I'm not really sure who has to go, and for whom...I just feel really sad for Jason Kidd. I really wanted him to get a ring, he's just one of those guys that you feel needs to get one before he's done.Comment

Kidd is a good leader and floor general, but he isnt at his best unless you surround him with other weapons. Most floor generals are that way.
As far as Josh Howard, he is probably the least consistent "all-star" in the entire league. Howard is way too hully gully to match up with Dirk's efficiency. Those two styles dont mix imo. Although, I dont know if Howard's hully gully style really mixes well with any style when it comes to winning.
I dont feel that you just up and trade a top 10 player in the league just to shake things up. People take Dirk for granted, but when he is gone, folks will find out that it isnt easy to find a player like that.
Dirk is still young for his position. It would be easier for the Mavs to deal with finding better weapons to surround him with. They could start by trading Josh Howard and Jason Terry.Comment

Re: Time for the Mavs to trade Dirk!
Even though Dirk only impacts one side of the game(offense) compared to K.G. impacting the game on both sides(offense and defense)?I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

ZB, I'm talking about starting to rebuild, not shaking things up when talking about trading Dirk. Since you admit he can't carry the team, then why is he so untouchable in your eyes?"Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Re: Time for the Mavs to trade Dirk!
they should probably start unloading players. You would think they could get something good for Howard.
I dont know if it's time to trade Dirk yet though, unless they get an offer they cant refuse.Last edited by ZB9; 11-13-2008, 10:35 PM.Comment

Dallas gets 8 mil in cap relief but has to eat Hinrich's contract.Comment

Re: Time for the Mavs to trade Dirk!
yea you are probably right about blowing them the hell up. They arent going to contend anyway even if they do sneak into the playoffs, so why not get a head start? I can see that.

Re: Time for the Mavs to trade Dirk!
Yeah probably time to unload some players, keep the young guys.
I really don't see Dirk as the problem, but if they do rebuild he probably would like to go play elsewhere and you could get some good young players...yeah you will suck for a year or two but make the right moves and you can be contending for the playoffs in a year or two again.
Who knows what you can get for Dirk, he still has tons of value.Comment

I think they should get rid of Josh Howard and bring in Kaman since he's on the market
Get rid Stackhouse in a package for a Battier type player.Comment
