    AI vs Practice

Iverson skips out on Pistons' practice

    By CHRIS LAU
    FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER

There was a noticeable absence at Pistons practice this morning in Auburn Hills: Allen Iverson.

Iverson, who’s been a Piston for less than a month, has a history of bad behavior, including not showing up for practice.

After Wednesday night’s 110-96 victory over the Knicks, he was one of many players who grumbled when coach Michael Curry decided to hold practice on Thanksgiving morning.

Iverson was the only no-show today. He will be fined an undisclosed amount and won’t start Friday night against the Milwaukee Bucks at the Palace.

Curry will decide during the game whether Iverson plays.

“I’m surprised when guys are late; I’m surprised when they don’t show,” Curry said. “It’s a pretty hefty fine to be late, or to miss, and once again, it’s accountability for yourself and your teammates.”

Rodney Stuckey will start in Iverson’s place against the Bucks.

Seriously...still though, Iverson needs to get his *** to practice.

Don't let my glib comments about Curry take away from that. No question, Ivey needs to get in the gym when he's supposed to.

I'm a fan of Iverson, but I miss the Pistons before the trade. I feel like times are different now and soon the Pistons will be trading more players and only Hamilton and/or maybe Prince will remain on this team.

Curry was a butthole for holding practice on Thursday morning. He's the one that brought unnecessary turmoil to his team. He's got a verteran group & he's a green coach & he makes them practice on a holiday? Burger King this morning closed on the holiday. The Pistons can't miss on day of practice?

The 2004 Pistons died in Game 7 in San Antonio.

The team before the trade wasn't going to do anything. There isn't going to be any vindication if the Iverson Pistons don't win the East or win a title. Dumars' epic bungling of the 2003 draft is starting to bite him in the ***.

Well, considering they are an un-Piston like 5-5 since the Iverson trade, I can see why Curry probably feels that taking advantage of a morning to practice would do the team some good.

Iverson himself mentioned how the team finally practicing helped him understand the offense and defense better.

He doesn't want to win a championship? Because playing .500 ball for that team isn't championship caliber.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Perhaps the fact that they'd be in the midst of a 3 game losing streak if they hadn't played the NDBL Knicks last night has something to do with the fact that Curry thinks a practice is in order today

Seriously, i'm stunned anyone can justify this kind of nonsense... AI, Starbury, whatever happened to team

Why don't the four teams playing tonight just decide not to show up ? I mean come on, it's a holiday, who needs to "work" on a holiday
