    Can Amare be that guy???

I meant to bring this up yesterday when I saw it on the bottom line of ESPN...

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/column...udemire-081128

Is Amare good enough to be that guy just like LeBron, D-Wade, and Dwight?

Is he good enough to have a team built around him?

Don't know.. but watching the Suns this year.. man it's a shame. They clearly are several notches below what they were in Nash's hey-day.. and Amare looks lost in the shuffle. Don't know wtf happened to the Shaq/Amare chemistry that was pretty decent last year.

Re: Can Amare be that guy???

The Suns are my sleeper team coming out the West. I know its still early but right now its not looking good. As a team they are looking lost and still trying to figure themselves out...no chemistry at all.

I don't know whats going on with Amare. I don't know if its the system or the surgeries thats holding him back. Clearly he's better in an uptempo system but I think he can still be very productive in the halfcourt even if he doesn't have back to the basket moves. As of right now he is not ready to be that guy like Bron, Wade, or Dwight.

Amare can be that guy, he still has to beat Kobe and Co.

But is Amare good enough to have a team built around him and be that go to guy lets say like Chris Bosh? Is Amare on the same level as Bron, Wade, and Dwight?

Amare is a very good player but I think he still has a ways to go to be on their level. To me he's not as polished as the rest of those guys.

He's the best offensive big man in the game, and needs to focus on his rebounding efforts. But he has to be used right. If he's being used like he's used now, he'll be just another good player. Porter has taken what he and Nash (and the entire team, for that matter) do best and flushed it down the toilet.

Dunno about that, Matrix...Amare isn't anywhere near as versatile as Duncan or Bosh. West, Nowitzki and Z are much better shooting bigs, and Yao is a better in the postup. He is the best big in the league at going to the basket, and in the 2-man game, with Boozer right behind, but Amar'e's offensive skillset isn't all that mindblowing outside of driving the lane, IMO...

Amare's jumper out to 18 feet is absolute money. Also, he shoots FTs like a guard does. Not saying that's all there is to being a great offensive big man, but he's definitely got more skill than just driving into the lane.

The only area Amare suffers/has trouble with is his back-to-the-basket game. I don't think he'll ever become a back-to-the-basket player though. Then again, that's what I said about him being a jump shooter and look where he is now.

Is there a place to see who has the best FG% percentage outside if the lane?

I'll just say this, if it were me making a team, he wouldn't be "that" guy for it.

In order for Amare to be that go to guy I think he either has to play with a very good point guard or he has to develop a back to the basket game. If none of that takes place then Amare will be at best a good player.

No. He is a slightly better Antwan Jamison. No defense, no understanding of the game, no consistency in helping players be better.

Great second best player on a team but defintly not the guy who can carry a team. Tim Duncan has half the talent but understands how to make his team better....just for comparison since they play the same position.
