Re: HAHAHAHA Cats trade J-Rich to Suns for Diaw/Bell
Are you serious? If they get a good lottery pick, I could easily see them as a 6 or even a 5 seed next year.
They have beaten a lot of good teams this year, and if Wallace wouldn't have been bludgeoned by Bynum they would be a playoff team now.Comment

Re: HAHAHAHA Cats trade J-Rich to Suns for Diaw/Bell
If CHA can get a marquee FA or Griffin then I'd say so.
Next year should be bananas in the East with:
BOS
CLE
ORL
MIA
ATL
PHI
WASH
All set in stone for the playoffs. The last spot will be between
MIL/NJ/CHA/CHI/TOR/NY
I wouldn't consider CHA that much better than the group I put them in above. So I can't say they're up and coming.Comment

Re: HAHAHAHA Cats trade J-Rich to Suns for Diaw/Bell
Considering that the team that is assembled now didn't have a full training camp with LB, and looking at the strides they have made during the second half of the season, I am very optimistic about next year.Comment

I guess it all depends on how you define the term, "up and coming." I define it by saying it is "a team that has a bright future."

So I can't say I agree with you when you say up and coming. They have a nice chance at a future though, not any brighter than anyone else IMO.
AND I completely disrespected INDY. They were missing Dunleavy all year.
Injuries, huge injuries to WASH especially were the reason CHA really competed for that last spot this year.Comment

Re: HAHAHAHA Cats trade J-Rich to Suns for Diaw/Bell
They aren't a playoff team this year, and they have no serious injuries, no real chance for a good draft pick, and no cap room.
I think it's safe to say that Charlotte isn't passing the Cavs, Celtics, Magic, Hawks, 6ers, or Heat. That puts them at the 7 spot at best, and the Wizards will be getting 0, Haywood, and Soulja Boy back, as well as a top 6 (and likely top 3) pick which, barring injuries, easily puts them above the Bobcats. The Bucks will be getting Redd and Bogut back, Rose will have another year of improvement, Detroit will have the cap room to do anything they want, and Toronto should rebound from this with a decent pick and some good cap room.
Honestly, I'd be shocked to see Charlotte make the playoffs. Gun to my head, I'd say they're more likely to finish last than 5th.Comment

I dunno though because besides BOS all those teams in the East have young stars and are relatively young teams.....

Like you said earlier, Should be exciting in the East next year.Comment

Re: HAHAHAHA Cats trade J-Rich to Suns for Diaw/Bell
Like I said pretty much EVERY East team except BOS is YOUNG and next year is going to bananas in the East.
Looking ahead I feel compelled to make a thread about the East much like my early thread about Portland. I mean I can make a case for EVERY single East team to make the playoffs. How crazy is that?!?!Comment

Re: HAHAHAHA Cats trade J-Rich to Suns for Diaw/Bell
But, seeing this team play every game this year, for the most part, I would be shocked if they didn't make the playoffs next year. They got off to a terrible start this year because of LB's new system, and they couldn't make up for at the end of the season. With a year under their belt with Brown I can see them doing a lot better than a lot of the "experts" expect. Or maybe I am just a simple-minded homer as you suggest.Comment

The 5 spot is a best case scenario, (Picking up a high draft pick/Impact Free Agent).

I do however think it's not unfair to think Charlotte won't make the playoffs next year though.Comment
