    Rivalries measured by a number.

So I decided to make a formula that finds out the best player vs. player rivalries (the most even matchups). No, it's not perfect, but it's been pretty fun to check out all the player matchups... what I did was take two players and looked at their head2head matchups and used my OS Fantasy Basketball League's scoring settings to evaluate how well the players do in games where they played against eachother. Based on the difference, is how I get my rating...

a 100 would equal a "perfect rivalry" (yeah, kinda rippin this from the "Constant of Jordan" guy)... here are some of the matchups I've done in order of best rivalries to worst (players marked with an asterisk performed better than their opponent)...

99.17 - Tony Parker** vs. Chris Paul
97.78 - Kevin Garnett** vs. Tim Duncan
    97.72 - Shaquille O'Neal** vs. Tim Duncan
96.98 - David Robinson** vs. Hakeem Olajuwon
95.88 - Jon Barry** vs. Brent Barry
95.70 - Kobe Bryant** vs. Manu Ginobili
93.78 - Jason Kidd** vs. Steve Nash
    93.76 - Shaquille O'Neal** vs. David Robinson
92.32 - LeBron James** vs. Kobe Bryant
87.54 - Steve Nash** vs. Tony Parker
85.37 - David Robinson** vs. Karl Malone
82.78 - Paul Pierce** vs. Carmelo Anthony
81.48 - Tim Duncan** vs. Chris Webber
81.41 - David Robinson** vs. Charles Barkley
79.45 - David Robinson** vs. Patrick Ewing
76.97 - Tim Duncan** vs. Karl Malone
75.52 - Tim Duncan** vs. Dirk Nowitzki
75.07 - Horace Grant** vs. Harvey Grant
73.10 - David Robinson** vs. Brad Daugherty
63.51 - Tim Duncan** vs. Amare Stoudemire
56.77 - Tim Duncan** vs. Rasheed Wallace
56.38 - Tim Duncan** vs. Al Jefferson
26.55 - Mark Price** vs. Brent Price

If anyone wants to jump in on this fun and request for a matchup (or a few matchups)... please feel free!

It's funny, because I was curious about this one yesterday too... McGrady didn't own Carter, but he kept him in check...

just to warn you... the available box scores only date back to the 1986-87 season, so I won't be able to capture EVERY matchup they had... but here are the numbers since then...

                        Some I think about

Q Rich vs Paul Pierce (Q tries to fight him every time they play)

And you might have answered this but do they have to be the same position?

or any of the top wing players of the past 10 years vs Garnett
                        Concrete evidence/videos please

Same positions would probably represent a more accurate answer, but it doesn't hurt to check... maybe I'm wrong who knows...

KG vs. LeBron huh? nice. The rivalry vs. Duncan is still a tad bit better.
