Look I admit I'm not a Sixer fan by any means, Brand did Dunleavy and the Clippers.. but this post is signature worthy. Marshall and Rush? Rush is just above D-league material, and Marshall will be out of the league soon. Both Marshall and Rush will be perennial DNP type players unless injuries occur.

I'm not saying Marshall and Rush are anything to be excited about or anything to feel good about, but the person did say to "get some shooters". Well, that's what Marshall and Rush are. Look, we didn't have anything like them on the team last year. So remember that when talking to us Sixers fans.Comment

Re: 76ers fired Maurice Cheeks
Marshall and Rush are 10th-12th men.. they are garbage. So no, the GM who signed them deserves no credit for those signings.
I honestly don't know, but was this the same GM who offered Iggy a huge deal, the one Iggy turned down? And was this the same GM who signed Iggy to his current deal?Comment

Nobody is still giving any realistics suggestions as to whom the Sixers could've gotten. It's hard to do in the first place because the Sixers don't have the pieces to get anybody that is good. So yes, Stefanski deserves a little bit of credit for getting Marshall and Rush because there was nobody at all on the team that could shoot.
Billy King offered Iggz the first contract last offseason and Iggz turned it down. Stefanski gave Iggz his current contract. Rumor was he was offering Iguodala up in order to get a legit starting 2 guard, but nobody was offering anything worthwhile. The most talked about rumor was Michael Redd, but you're not getting Redd for Iggz.Comment

Re: 76ers fired Maurice Cheeks
Mo deserved to be fired. Another year of starting off crappy and hoping for another gangbuster drive for the playoffs yet again??? Don't think so. This would've been three years in a row. The year they traded AI...Sixers got better but it wasn't good enough. Last year, Stefanski comes in and gets Mo to play Thad and the Sixers get good. This year, he gets Brand and some shooters and we have to wait again for the second half to make the push? No. This means you are not a good enough coach.
Brand is fine. The idiots here in this city that don't know anything think Brand is C-Webb II. This is how Brand has always played. It's not his fault Iguodala sucks as an offensive player. It's not his fault Emo-Bert sucks raisins. It's not his fault that there are no shooters around him and the ones that were brought in by Stefanski were not being played. Leave Elton alone because it is not his fault.
I think the DiLeo interim is management putting their hand down on the team and saying "we wanted this team to play a certain way and Cheeks wasn't doing it." I love Mo. He's a hero here, but I never wanted him to coach here.
Kruza asked about Speights. Speights should be starting ahead of Dalembert. 'Nuff said lol. And ex carrabba can go jump into a lake lol. This doesn't justify anything you said.
I think you're right that expecting another 'gangbuster' 2nd half turn around is far-fetched.
I guess my intial reaction was based on emtions more than logic since Cheeks is a guy I've like for a long time.
I believe adding Rush and Marshall...the stop-gap measures that they are...was the best option at the time.
...@ your 'NBA 2K9' deal for J-Rich.
Charlotte wouldn't trade for a rookie whose 'motivation' & focus are his biggest weaknesses.
What motivation would he have playing in Charlotte.
If you're wondering what I'm talking about read the ESPN scouting report on him.
The team was poorly put together by Billy King. He signed Korver, Green, and Dalembert to those horrible contracts.
Korver we were able to ship out, but Green and Dalembert are likely here for awhile or until they've each got a yr left on their deals.
At least King was smart enough to draft Young and Williams.
Ed Stefanski...once he gets felxibility to, will have a power-house Eastern Conf. team.
I agree that Marshall and Rush are not the best of additions.
Marshall is on the outside of his career, but can still drain a 3...and Rush is a journeyman swingman who is a defensive liability.
They are both 'shooters' though...In the spot-up mold...And I guess the idea of them being acquired was kicking out to one of them if a sixers big was doubled down on in the post.
Again...Like Skerik stated...What were better options that they could've brought in at the veteran minimum.
Because these guys were brought in as such due to the cap restrictions which had to met to bring in Brand.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: 76ers fired Maurice Cheeks
I don't think Stefanski wanted Mo in the first place, but since there was pressure in keeping the hometown hero there and he got the team to the playoffs. he probably felt he needed to give Mo a little bit of time.Comment

Re: 76ers fired Maurice Cheeks
Philly isn't just winning, they're re-establishing their identity. Defend and run. Good for them. It's up to Brand to fit in with them, not the other way around.
Cheeks was a swell guy, but he needed to go it appears...the 6'ers were directionless. Nothing is worse than not having a style to hang your hat on, especially with young players just learning how to win.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

They did the same thing last year, started slow then turned it on. I knew it was going to happen with or without Mo.Comment

Re: 76ers fired Maurice Cheeks
They played the exact same style last year under Cheeks. This year they had to adjust to a new player coming in and Louis Williams shooting 30% for 2 months. Cheeks did not deserve to be fired. He got fired out because paying 80 mil for a player and starting off slow isn't going to fly for GM's and owners.
They did the same thing last year, started slow then turned it on. I knew it was going to happen with or without Mo.
This year, Cheeks wouldn't limit Emo-bert's minutes and his lineups were terrible.
I'm sorry, but there is nothing about Cheeks' coaching career that screams that he needed to be kept along.
I will say that Iguodala came into the season not in the best form. That didn't help.Comment
