Pretty much the way it is, fun 1st quarter/half, serious 2nd half (although its usually just the last half of the 4th). So if I had to choose, serious.

Re: Fun? Serious? Which Kind of Play Do You Prefer in the All Star Game?
I like the "3 first quarters fun and 4th quarter serious" attitude the game has take the last few years. But I do miss some of the 90's allstar games where the bigger stars would fight to win the game no matter what.My Specs:
ZX Spectrum
CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
GPU: Monochrome display
RAM: 48 KB
OS: Sinclair BASICComment

It's entertaining as hell watching these guys fool around and have fun, but I'd still like them to actually try to play defense in these games. Most of the time, it's just letting the other team score a flashy bucket, run up the court, score a flashy bucket while the defense stands there laughing, wash, rinse, and repeat. If all of these guys did take it seriously the entire game, it'd be great basketball. Instead, it's just a great fourth quarter.Comment

I'd rather watch an entertaining all star game. Just because Vince and Tmac and MJ did dunks off the backboard doesnt mean they werent competing because they were.
This years game was just trashComment

It had a lot to do with the fact that you had guys like Granger and Lewis guarding Shaq and Pau etc etc. The game should have been much more exciting though. Wade and LBJ + Howard should have counted for more. But oh well it's a freakin all-star game.Comment

Fun or serious? Neither.
I want to see skills! And, I want to see execution! If your a good dunker, then dunk with flair. If you got handles, then show them, and throw plenty lobs.
A few players "get it", without even being told. Shaq aims to put on a show every time. CP3 was showing handles last night. Usually when J-kidd, or Nash, or Iverson are in, they're gonna throw lobs all game. Vince Carter would put on a aerial show.
I love K-G, but c'mon Big Ticket, throw it down with some flair! Dunk in Yao's grill!
And never....ever put Paul Pierce (Mr. Sim) in again. Same goes Mr. Fundamental (Duncan). At least Duncan has that signature backboard jumpshot (lol), and he can throw it down, too.
These guys have great bodies and athleticism, and fans want to see just a little more flair than what's seen in regular games.
Is it really so hard to throw a decent lob? Or throw down a dunk?
Nope! It just seems to me that most of the players don't really care. Either that, or bad subbing is the problem. Mo Williams and Ray Allen?! What kind of backcourt is that?! Booooring.LOL
