The internet probably pulled me away from SLAM, but I'm glad for the alternative. For every great article and revealing interview, there was an ebonics laden thumb of the nose to journalism that was all hype, and talked down to its audience.

Yeah, I stopped subscribing a year or so ago after 8 years of reading it. Some of the articles were just ********, and the writers are the most self-important people ever. They are gods in their own minds.

I was a subscriber from 6th grade when it came out, through my second year of college. I recently sold the first 52 issues including #1 with Larry Johnson on the cover, and made a nice profit. For me personally, the whole hip-hop theme got old, i outgrew it, and that's why i cancelled my subscription.

Overall I would say it is the best basketball magazine of all time in my opinion.
