Yet another coach who preaches defense and offensively kind of leaves it up to the players to figure out.

George Karl made the point the other day that a coach has more security if his team is a decent defensive team and horrible offensive team as opposed to a good offensive team and bad defensive team.

Ivaroni should be running and making teams matchup against Memphis's speed instead it seems he wanted everything slowed down so they would get back on transistion defense....what kind of strategy is that?

    Free Mike Conley!!

Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal: "Lionel Hollins is making most of his changes with how the Griz play basketball. But one of his early decisions off the court will affect the players every day. Hollins stopped the team from providing players with breakfast and lunch before and after practice. 'They're grown men,' Hollins said. 'It's not the team's responsibility to treat them like kids.'"

I don't know about the breakfast/lunch thing. I'd rather provide the meals and make sure they meet a certain nutritional requirement. It's not like they're ending brown bags to their houses. I'd have everybody eating grilled chicken and grapefruits, lol.

Yea being able to control what they eat is needed. They don't eat what they should eat = MIGHT not perform how YOU (coach) wants them to perform. And that then makes YOU look bad as well as them. So it is in HIS best interest to control their intake

          But I understand his intentions

I read that article too and chuckled

But more importantly Hollins runs plays, plays with backscreens and multiple options, misdirection. In one quarter he made every single person in the organization think "wait a minute, why didnt we do this before".

The problem now is our only productive low post player is Darius Miles, none of the other big men will be able to adapt to this motion style offense after standing around in iso sets for a whole game.

Plays!!!!! Just thought i'd add that again
