This is horrible. Any chance we had at a title run is over. Anthony Johnson is now our starting PG.

Re: Jameer Nelson - Torn Labrum
So does that mean he is done for the season?
Can't tell right now because i'm posting from my phone.#RespectTheCulture -
Re: Jameer Nelson - Torn Labrum
Damn... I feel for the guy, he was playing great this year and was a very deserving All-Star. The Magic are definitely not as dangerous, and they'll need to make a move for a PG if they want to have a chance in hell at going all the way this year (assuming he's out for 8 weeks or so).
Yahoo is saying that he "could miss the rest of the season", which places his recovery time right about the same as Bynum's. If he has surgery on it, he's probably done.Last edited by Stumbleweed; 02-03-2009, 01:25 PM.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Trade for Earl Watson.
He's not the shooter Jameer is, but he plays outstanding D and can distribute the ball better than Jameer.
W/ Howard, Hedo, Rashard, Pietrus...they don't really need shooters.
Earl Watson is the perfect fit here, IMO.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Jameer Nelson - Torn Labrum
The Magic said a course of treatment has yet to be determined and a timetable for his return is unknown.
They definitely need him to make a run, but who knows he could be back relatively soon?Comment

Re: Jameer Nelson - Torn Labrum
I'm hearing "several weeks" without surgery, which puts him out past the All-Star break and possibly returning in early March. If he elects to have surgery, then he's "likely out for the season".
Either way, they need to do something. Watson is probably as good as they could get, and he's definitely better than Anthony Johnson, especially as a distributor.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Jameer Nelson - Torn Labrum
Any Pacers fan know the word on Jamaal Tinsley? I just read that he's filing a grievance, but is there any chance the Pacers might actually waive him?
Without trades, I think Tinsley would be the best available FA PG out right now. Other options are Damon Stoudamire, Francis, Jason Williams and Shaun Livingston, none of which excite me too much.
If not a free agent point guard, then it's definitely time to move JJ Redick for somebody. The Magic are legit contenders, and if we can get a serviceable PG to at least play some defense and pass the ball, I think it would be worth losing the great Johnathan Clay.Comment

Re: Jameer Nelson - Torn Labrum
Branks don't you want a PG who can shoot a little?
I know it's Anthony Johnson, but I think that's the best you can come up with at this point.
Earl is a nice distrubtor, but he's shooting horrendously right now. In fact his career FG % is UGLY.
Tinsley hasn't played all season neither has White Choco.
I dunno I'd ride with Johnson, but if you're gonna deal for someone, I'd go with Earl.Comment

Re: Jameer Nelson - Torn Labrum
They don't need a PG who can shoot. They put three shooters and Howard on the floor with EVERY lineup. Van Gundy is a good enough coach that he can get Shard, Turk, Pietrus, Evans and those guys shots without having a PG who can shoot. Obviously having Nelson be lights out was nice, but an inside out plan with Howard will work just fine with a non-shooting PG. Howard is so big that doubling with the PG isn't going to work, so the open man will still be coming from the SG/SF/PF positions. They just need to hold it down until Nelson comes back, and keep getting better in the meantime. Homecourt is out of the window at this point, but they can still get better at defense while Nelson heals.Comment

The Bucks would probably be willing to trade the guy being dunked on in this picture...Attached FilesComment

I dunno, like I said if you want to sign a guy who hasn't played all season be my guest. You better sign him in by the end of the month because it's about that time where you need to start ramping things up.
If Nelson is out for the season, then I endorse picking up either Tins or Watson.
1. Tinsley- Best distributor out of the bunch, but has a bad contract [14 million over two years] and hasn't played for a year and a half. Terrible FG% also.
2. Watson- Heady guy who has been playing this year. Wants out, shoots horribly as well.Comment

Re: Jameer Nelson - Torn Labrum
Forgot about Marbs.
It seems clear both sides are in a stalemate.
At least Indiana is TRYING to move Tins. Same with OKC and Watson.
Marbs would be nice I suppose, though he hasn't played for a year and a half as well.Comment

Having a PG who can shoot on this Orlando team is a luxury IMO, not a need. They've got 3 20+ a night guys, and another double digit scorer in Pietrus.
The counter to losing a scoring PG would be to add a defensive/distributor type. What you lose w/ Jameer you make up for in other areas. Maybe they don't need to score as much since Watson will hold the opposing PG to less than what Jameer would.
