What changes would you make as GM
of the Wizards. Now that their season is over, and MJ will return to the front office, and with the current roster failing to at least play better than the oldest guy on the team, what changes would you make to improve the team for next season?Tags: None -

First things first. I do NOT like the Wizards and I have never been a fan of Michael Jordan (hate to see him go though) but I will play the role of a GM.
1) Let Stackhouse walk.
-not worth the money that he`ll be looking for
-Jordan doesn`t seem to like him anyway (couldn`t get along on the court and I guess Jordan feels Stack doesn`t play with enough heart)
2) Fire Doug Collins
-hey, he did it once. The game has passed Collins. It has changed and he hasn`t.
3) Hire Del Harris
-Best coaching candidate out there IMO is Van Gundy but Jordan and Van Gundy have never seen eye-to-eye.
4) Start Kwame Brown at PF.
-You drafted this kid at #1. Give him some minutes. He put up some numbers during summer camps (who doesn`t) but he has the size to be somewhat effective in the East. He seemed scared to play ALONGSIDE Jordan so maybe having a couple years under his belt and Jordan far from the court will help him mentally.
5) Give Juan Dixon and Jared Jeffries more minutes.
-they`re young, athletic and full of energy. damn a veteran (although I always like Oakley).
6) Use their Lottery pick on a PG (a real PG).
-I like Larry Hughes, but he`s a 2 guard. Tyronn Lue will be a career backup. And, despite his size, Juan Dixon is a natural 2 guard. Don`t play him at point anymore.
7) Sign Lamar Odom
-not sure if he`s a restricted free agent, but his overall play will compensate a bit for losing Jordan and Stackhouse. He`ll get the younger players involved (won`t help them win much but will get them touches).
I think because of their youth, they`ll struggle again next year. But the year after that, they should be a playoff contender.

Re: What changes would you make as GM
I do feel they need some outside shooters, and someone that will actually want to crash the boards besides Jared Jeffries. I think it hurt them a bit to lose this guy. Etan Thomas wasn't doing too well anyway, so I'd try to get something solid in a package for him, and like Hughes.
They definitely need a good solid point guard, but who couldn't use one of those, maybe like Jamal Crawford, and yes let Stack go, and get a guy that can actually be a leader on the floor.Comment

Re: What changes would you make as GM
First of all I would trade Stackhouse for a C or PF. Oakley and MJ will be gone (unless MJ "suprises" us all which is highly unlikely). Laettner's contract will be up and even though he has been playing well, I would probably choose not to re-sign him unless of course he accepts a major pay cut :-) . I would probably try and trade Bryon Russell for a good perimeter player who can hit the three.
Tyronn Lue..... This guy is still learning and will get better. I would have him as my reserve PG.
Bobby Simmons.... I would keep this guy as he has been playing pretty well as of late. My reserve SG.
Etan Thomas.... definitely keep this guy. He has the best post game on the Wiz and plays with energy. My reserve PF.
Jahidi White..... Keep this guy too. He adds rebounding and toughness. My reserve C who I would probably start half the time anyway over B.Haywood.
My starting five would be (not taking into consideration the stackhouse trade that I mentioned):
C - Brendan Haywood
PF - Kwame Brown
SF - Jared Jeffries
SG - Larry Hughes
PG - Juan Dixon
Sure, they may suck for a couple of years, but hopefully Kwame will be the main man in the next couple of years.Comment

Re: What changes would you make as GM
Just another thing.... I noticed some of you guys saying that you would let Stackhouse walk.... well, I don't think he will do that. Prior to this season starting it looked like he would, but I think Stackhouse knows he won't find a better deal than if he continues his two year option on his contract. So that only leave trading the guy.Comment
