I'm just giving him the benifit of the doubt, we don't all the facts of what happened, I don't see why Shaq would skip practice FOR NO GOOD reason. If the Lakers lose tonight, then it will have hurt the team, if they win--all is good.

Re: Flat Tire
On the LA Daily News
The official excuse was a flat tire, an explanation greeted skeptically, and O'Neal will be fined a nominal sum.
"This isn't excused," coach Phil Jackson said.
Mike Parris, O'Neal's manager, phoned Lakers spokesman John Black to inform him of the absence. Jackson learned the news from Black.
"Flat tire was what he said, that's all I know," said Jackson, clearly unimpressed by the explanation. "He can find another car. He's got plenty of them to find his way here. ... It bothers me, yeah."
O'Neal's representatives had no additional information beyond the flat-tire story.
If O'Neal was upset about anything, the Lakers were unaware. Jackson speculated O'Neal was just tired, but he had informed his players the workout would be light. He's also giving them the day off Friday.
So Jackson was surprised at O'Neal's decision, and his timing.
So O'Neal's absence was unfortunate, if not entirely a surprise. O'Neal has been known to take an unexcused day or two off a season, though usually to attend to family matters.
"I think we know Shaq well enough to know that it's not a disappointing thing with Shaquille," Jackson said, "but it's something that we wanted to do as a team to kind of push ourselves a little bit here at this time and kind of create a playoff atmosphere for ourselves right now. So (his absence is) a little bit of a setback for us."
I found this tidbit about Shaq and Bradley's relationship in the article humorous...
"We're dumber than a rock as a team, sometimes," Nelson said after Tuesday's loss. "We (make Shaq mad). We got an owner who talked about him and got him mad. We got (Nick) Van Exel talking about him and getting him mad. (Shawn) Bradley gets him mad just by showing up. He just hates Bradley for some reason.Comment

Re: Flat Tire
Now Explain that Shaq Fanboys. Yeah he might be the most dominant player, but that shows a lack of leadership. I'm surprised people defend this, if he's your main guy, then you should be mad that he thinks he's too good to practice. Especially against a team that has a good chance of taking them out for the season.
I wouldn't be as disgusted if this was in the begining of the season or whatever, but the Lakers have a chance to move up seeds and that shows a lack of foucs and dedication on Shaq's part.
Come on now, i saw that hummer he's driving on 26's, i'm sure that could bring his fat *** to practice.Comment
