Re: Fastest/quickest player ever & today
This is not a greatest player list. It's just about speed. No need to pay homage to old heads unless you think they were faster. I think Isiah was great. He wasn't faster than AI though.Comment

Re: Fastest/quickest player ever & today
Kevin Johnson all-time? Maybe... I can't pick one because I'm sure there are great forgotten players who were fast/quick.
T.J. Ford at the present. Deron Williams would be my next pick for his handles. Monta Ellis maybe without the ball.Comment

Re: Fastest/quickest player ever & today
It's a subjective thread. And it's not like if 80% of the people say that AI is the fastest ever - it really means he is. It's just for fun and giving your opinion. There's no real way to measure it, and if there was we wouldn't need this thread.Last edited by youvalss; 02-12-2009, 08:39 AM.My Specs:

LOL...
Um, I know what this is...Im sayin Zeke was faster than AI. Isiah doing it without the palming.
AI seems fast cuz no one can touch him. Different players, different times.Comment

Re: Fastest/quickest player ever & today
There seems to be a theme that if you have a criticism of someone, you're hating on them. "Why all the hate for Isiah?" As if you need to hate him to think that Allen Iverson is faster than he was.
Also, you wrote "No Zeke means no AI...etc" That's not relevant to the discussion, and that's what I was responding to.Comment

Re: Fastest/quickest player ever & today
Being condescending and sarcastic is a nice try at clouding the issue, but ultimately fails. You think Zeke was faster, and that's fine. What is not fine is that you say that people are hating on Zeke simply because they disagree with you.Comment

Re: Fastest/quickest player ever & today
Reminds me of a time on NikeTalk where there was a "Best 3PT Shooter of All Time" thread and somebody said Jordan. I shot it down and then like 2 other people co-signed with dude and they ganged up on me LOL.
People don't know how to separate individual skills with legacies.
AI is faster/quicker than Zeke without a doubt. Honestly I don't think of BREAK NECK speed/quickness when I think of Zeke. I think of elusiveness with him. But yea...Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Re: Fastest/quickest player ever & today
NBA Films needs to take a cue from NFL films and remember guys who may not have been superstars, but were great at certain things.
If they did a "fastest man with the ball" feature you would see the guy I mentioned Rickey Green from the Utah Jazz at worst be in the top few and with a good chance at being number one.
Hot Rod Hundley Jazz announcer (admittedly a bias there called him the fastest man alive) and his nickname was "The Fastest of Them All". This guy was a blur with the ball 6 feet 170 pounds, he was faster than even the little blur guys like Muggsy, Michael Adams, etc.
I can think of a ton of guys fast with the ball, but I can't think of anyone faster than him, from any era.
A little anecdote regarding Muggsy Bogues, I watched and recorded a game early on in his career at Wake Forest, he was getting a lot of publicity becuase he was 5 foot 2. It was incredible, he penetrated at will and got guys tons of easy shots, they missed a lot of them though. I showed the tape to my friend and said that this guy would be in the NBA, even at that height. Most guys disagreed with me that he could play in the NBA at 5 foot 2, he played a lot of years, nice career.
Picture a guy with that kind of speed and handle at 6 feet tall and that's how Rickey Green was in his prime.Comment
