Obviously, that makes him the potential greatest player ever (well other than the other Chicago players).

The thread question would be better if it was: which 3 point guards will be on the 2012 team?

        Here's my list:

        1A. Deron
        1B. CP3
        1C. Rose

        Alternates:
        2. Rondo
        3. Devin Harris
        4. John Wall

Nice way of taking the easy route TWO times

You gotta go with CP3 and DWill. Rose is nice and will be extra nice in 2012, but CP3 and DWill are better distributors, defenders and shooters than Derrick Rose is.

Team USA will have stars at every position, so a scoring point guard isn't as much of a necessity as a point guard who can D up, hit shots from the outside and make smart plays.

I would actually prefer starting Deron Williams over Paul, and bring Paul off the bench for energy and scoring, like a Wade from this past Summer. Deron seems like the better glue player out there with Dwight, LeBron and Wade (assuming those three are definite locks as starters).

There are some people who would take Williams over Paul. Persoanlly, I'd take Paul.

By 2012, it's not like Rose is going to be head-and-shoulders above the competition. It'll be like it is now when you compare Paul to Williams. It's a close race but majority of people would take Paul. In 2012, the debate will be between Rose and Paul with most people taking Rose by that time. And Williams will still be in the debate at that time also. When your dealing with this type of dissuccsion, it'll never be a clear cut winner.

I just think Rose is that special of a player. Paul is quick and fast. Williams is strong. Even though Rose is not better than either player in their respective physically abilities, he has a touch of both. Paul will never be as strong as Williams and Williams will never be as quick/fast as Paul. Rose is capabale of being both.

other than CP3 and Dwill, it would be Rose or D harris.

there is probably a good chance that CP3 and Deron Williams would both turn it down after already winning a Gold

Well there isn't an argument that one could make to answer the question.. sorry man.

I don't think there's a point to the thread.. first of all, why would they only go with 2 point guards?

I think Rose's potential is ridiculous but CP3 will be in his absolute prime by then. He's on a pace to become an all time great PG, I'm not convinced Rose will progress to that point. I'm not sure those Rose-colored glasses haven't clouded your judgement...

As for the question, I'd probably go with CP3 and Rose by 2012 because they seem to offer more disruptiveness defensively but I agree with Ex to a large degree. Deron is a great player too.
