ID 2003 by FAR. You'll see players actually coming off screens to bury the J, pass on open shots, etc. You won't see that stuff in NBA 2k3 or Live 2003. -

Agree totally.
However, 2K3 represents the ISO game much better and the rebounding game much better...so that should be factored in. Greg Ostertag shouldn't jump over two defenders for a put back slam...and he doesn't in 2K3...but he does in ID because of the rebounding flaws.
The boarding is important because in 2K3, as in real life, guys will get an offensive board and then most of the time throw it back out and a play will re-set. In ID the ball almost never comes back out as the C / PF's dominate the boards and invariably slam it back.
ID's teams can also run their sets a little too well IMO. ie, they all execute perfectly...there's no real 'breakdown' and ID2004 should work on this / add deflections etc.
All up...I really think a COMBO of both games would be perfect. Both are either side of being realistic. Realic is somewhere in the middle.Comment

Yeah, I agree with your assessment of where NBA 2k3's strengths are. The rebounding is a big problem with ID 2003, not to mention the isolation/offensive ball movement balance is skewed too much towards there being too much ball movement and not enough iso plays. I've mentioned these problems several times. The shooting fouls in NBA 2k3 are right on, though. The block/charge fouls in NBA 2k3 are great because I DO get a lot of free throw attempts in NBA 2k3, not so much in ID 2003 unfortunately. Big flaw in ID 2003 considering free throw shooting is an important aspect of basketball.Comment

Re: what game do you think has the players playing like real life
ID is the most authentic game.
Play against Orlando, and they ISO TMac all day.
Play agains the Sixers, the ball is always in AI's hands
Play against Dallas, and they put pure shooters all over the floor, and light you up.
Play against Utah, and they run the pick and roll...
Play against New Orleans, everybody touches the ball, and scoring is distributed evenly, unless they can exploit a miss-match...
It goes on...teams play like themselves in this game...It's TOO real...-Jay Illestrate, Emcee/Producer/Graphic Artist
