NBA Live 2003 making a lot of promises.....

I'm willing to give EA a chance. They're saying that NBA Live 2003 will be totally different from previous Live's and will be the King of B-Ball games this year. Last year I bought Live 2002 and then had to buy NBA2K2 (which was good, but got too easy after a while) I'm hoping that Live can deliver on these promises, because i think it has the potential to deliver a more realistic game of hoops than the 2K series(65% shooting, 85% points in the paint). Anyways, we'll see, may the best game win.

They better bring more than what they've shown so far. The videos from draft night showed the same generic animation/graphic system. They need to scrap their engine and redefine themselves imo. ID and 2k3 are looking great, the competition is moving forward, and live needs to get into the race before trying to catch up.

With ID2003 and 2K3 both moving strongly ahead, Live will need to do twice what the others are doing this year in order to even get close to contention. We'll have to see.

Live has always been my favorite basketabll game. And this year I hear the hype about it being new and improved. Well, if it delivers what they say, then they can continue the top
b-ball game out there.

Yeah I'm intrigued by this upcoming Live game. I hope they can get back to the style and gameplay of
Live '99 because '99 IMO is the best Basketball ever made.

Gizmo, if it is your favorite game, then why would it need to change? What would you like to see them keep from the previous game, and what would you like to see changed? For starters, they need to learn how to implement a fast break. Even street ball utilizes players moving without the ball towards the hoop. The one on one moves are canned, and each skilled player can execute them the same exact way. The offensive rebounding was so ridiculous, you had to give the cpu the two after a missed free throw.

I didn't say it need to change. I said with all the talk about it being "A Whole New Live", then it would bring the series back on top. I agree with all the points you said. The rebounding was lacking. I would nearly average 15 rpg. The fast break was slow. I would be on a fast break and no one would follow.

I wasn't trying to come down on you, I too hope NBA can recapture that magic they had back in 99. In the end, we as gamers cant go wrong with three solid titles battling for our money.

That's true driddy. We can't go wrong with either titles. Also Live 99 was a very good game. I still play that game once in a while.
