Stern doesn't want any of the games to overlap (Two games on at once). Back in the day the Lakers would play their first game on Sunday and then not again until Thursday. This year, he has to share airtime on ESPN and ABC with the NHL. Thus, there is some overlapping, but few and far between. -

The best set up was during the 90's. You only had 1 day between games except for games 2 and 3 (and 5 and 6 if necessary) when teams got 2 days off. I don't know how good this was for the players, but it was GREAT from a fan's standpoint. The 1st round nowadays drags too long with the possibility of having a 7 game series take as long as 2 weeks.Comment

Amigo, last year was worst. They played like every 3 or 4 days in the first round! This year is a bit more continious.Comment

The best was the strike-shortened season when they had to finish the playoffs in 5 and half weeks!!! I loved those playoffs, I watch like a madman then.Comment

The Mavs played SATURDAY night and don't play again till Wednesday. That's a lot of rest. And if it goes to a game seven, the series will go till May 4th.Comment
