Do You Honestly Think The NBA "Fixes" Games?

    Seriously.

I've never thought about this until reading posts in this forum over the past few years.

Now, I'm not sure if you guys are just joking when you bring it up, or that you REALLY think that is what the NBA does.

If thats the case, how long do you think this has gone on?

Also, how big of an effect do you think this has over the coarse of a game? I mean, I think if a team is playing great, knocking down shots, and playing good D, then I don't see how a few foul calls can really affect the entire game. I feel like the only way is if the game is close in crunch time, otherwise I don't think it has that great of an impact.

And that's pretty much THE ONLY way that the NBA could "fix" a game. There's nothing else that can be done.

    Thoughts?

I have no idea but if you have refs calling fouls that don't exist it can mess up the rhythm of a shooter, cause a coach to take a player out of the game, make a player more cautious when playing defense which could lead to them playing off more and making it easier for someone to drive etc. Fouls can do a lot to affect a game.

Yeah. I didn't really think that one through. Everything you mentioned would have a big impact on the game.

But I still question whether it really happens like others are always bringing it up.

Only when the Celtics or Cavs win.

As for whether fouls can affect a game, look at game 2 last year.

These aren't video game players. You tend to get very frustrated when Leon Powe takes 5 times the free throws your team takes in the first half.

          the refs are human...

how many times have u seen a play and thought "hey that was a foul" or "hey that was not a foul" then seen the replay from a different angle to find out you were wrong?

no one is perfect not even refs...

I honestly don't think the thought would have ever crossed my mind had I never been on this site.

Exactly. Bad calls are going to be made. But I really don't think they are being made on purpose like some are saying on here.

Yeah, the NBA will never live down that series. It was truly a hatchet job. And to make it worse, a year or two later they changed the rules in the middle of the season so that the first round would be 7 games instead of 5, allegedly to protect the Lakers' chances.

                          Anyone see the foul?

                          Bennett Salvatore does.

Uh, I think you truly have to remember how awful Game 6 was.

The Lakers SHOT 27 FREE THROWS in the 4th quarter alone.

EDIT: Bibby was holding Kobe...after he was clocked in the face. There's no way you could call that a foul on Bibby.
