Re: Mike Brown Named Coach of the Year
Like I said in the other thread, Lebron deserved to win it more than Brown's non-coaching ***.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Mike Brown Named Coach of the Year
I'd been happy w/Adelman or Karl. While Brown isn't a bad choice, its not the best choice. It's not that difficult to own the best record when you have the best player. Denver traded away 2 starters from a year ago because of economics & got better. Adelman lost his best player & starting pg in what appeared to be the death bell for the Rockets.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Mike Brown Named Coach of the Year
Thats sorta correct.
And the reason we have 66-wins.
Don't just blow off the humility it takes to give that much responsibility to assistants, and the impact that TRUST has had on a team with a prima donna like Bronny. Mike Brown's success at getting his best players to commit themselves to defense, and the level of self-esteem it takes to let the players have ALL the credit will be the blueprint for a ton of head coaches over the next decade.
‘‘Over the last three years we weren’t good on offense mainly because of me,’’ Brown said. ‘‘I wanted to establish an identity here and that was on defense. I wanted our guys to believe and smell and look like defenders.
BTW, the Cavs have had 4 of their top 8 miss at least a month with injuries. Also, don't Adelman, Stan and Karl have some decent players on their rosters, lol? Of course, as does every COY winner. If having the best player is a negative, Phil should have ZERO.
I wouldnt have minded seeing DiLeo win, or Skiles if the busted up Bucks would have made it into the postseason if you go with the "more with less" mindset.Last edited by HMcCoy; 04-20-2009, 10:13 PM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

There was a time, year before last when Bron and Larry openly criticized the Cavs offense. Brown basically told both to STFU and play some more defense. Larry Hughes couldn't take it and mentally checked out. 2 years later the stand Brown took is paying huge dividends. Being great defensively is more than ordering your guys to go out and give the effort. Its teaching and relentlessly preaching certain habits until they become routine...trapping the PnR, helping under the basket every time, challenging shots without fouling by attacking the ball hand side and being disciplined on your closeout, shrinking the floor and still contesting the 3pt line...Mike Brown brought alot of defensive principles to this club, and getting a your super-duper star to buy into the concepts to the point that he enforces his will on the guys do that stuff consistently is not easy or every coach would do it. Its the reason a Larry Brown can take almost any squad and make them signifcantly better. Its also the reason Chauncey has the Nuggets looking so good.
