While I think you went a little overboard (he shoots a good bit better than "particularly well"), this post is far closer to the truth than many of the others in this thread.

Nah...I would never...NEVER...disrespect Rays jumper. Ever. Combination of form and quickness of release, and his J stands among the best in history.

I meant that he doesn't do anything else that stands out, IMO. Incredible to think that a guy who could get to the rim at will took 38% of his career shots from deep...

Players who go to the playoffs once in six years don't deserve to be rated very highly.

                      Yes.

There has not been a franchise so bad that a truly great player in his prime could not drag into the playoffs more than once in six years. There just hasn't.

With some of the teams that guys like Kobe, Lebron, and AI dragged into the playoffs, Allen's inability stands in stark contrast. I obviously don't expect him to win the Finals with those teams, but 2-3 more playoff appearances for a "first ballot Hall of Famer" or an all time great is not too much to ask.

He is a great shooter, and a fantastic #2, #3, or co-#1. But as a #1 player on the team, he isn't good.

Ray is/was not the player Kobe or Lebron are right now. Iverson? I respect his toughness, fearlessness, and ability to score in the paint but he was overrated in his prime. He was a sloppy passer, needed to dominate the ball to be effective and his primary defense was ambushing passing lanes and taking foolish gambles. Iverson may have the flashy point totals over Ray (mainly because he shot more and handled more) but the sharpshooter has more substance to his game.

Iverson could at least take his team to the playoffs.

Useless without the ring and by the way his teammates were better than they were given credit for (McKie, Snow, Mutumbo).

Cassell and Robinson were universally praised (even though they were undeserving).
